  • Fully Integrated e-Services for Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections

Freya Spielberg, Vivian Levy et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2014•Cited by: 1•References: 15

Objectives. We examined the acceptability, feasibility, and cost of a fully integrated online system (eSTI) for sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, treatment, and linkage to care with 4 Northern California health departments. Methods. In April 2012, we implemented the eSTI system, which provided education; testing of self-collected vaginal swabs for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis; e-prescriptions; e-partner notification; and d…

  • Autonomous Systems in Human Behavior and Development

    Open Access•Peter Wolff•ARTICLE•Human Development•2009

Psychologists tend to regard the relationship between process and activity as arbitrary. A process is thought of as a unitary construct, independent of the behavior from which it is inferred. In this paper, research is reviewed which demonstrates that responses from different behavior systems (e.g., autonomic, reflex, voluntary motor, and verbal) to a given stimulus situation may be far from perfectly correlated with each other. These systems app…

  • Effects of Induced Motor Gestures on Vocal Output

Open Access•P A Wolff, Peter Wolff et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Communication•1972

The communicative act is a complex phenomenon involving gestural and expressive, as well as vocal, components. In the present experiment, the relationship between gestural and vocal components was studied by imposing an arbitrary gesture on a speaker and examining its effect on his verbal output. Subjects either performed or viewed a circular or linear gesture, and were required to simultaneously produce either short stories or words in restricte…

  • A DRL Schedule with Temporal Adjustment

    Open Access•Peter Wolff, Peter C Wolff et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1966

Rats under 48-hr. water deprivation were placed on a DRL schedule that required IRTs of 30 sec. or 60 sec. for the first component and longer IRTs of 120 sec., 150 sec., 180 sec., 240 sec., or 300 sec. for the second component. Ss were switched back and forth between components on the basis of their IRTs. These two-component DRL schedules utilizing various time requirements quickly produced rates of response as low as 20 per hour and still mainta…

  • Brain Stimulation and Control of Behavior

    Open Access•Peter Wolff, Peter C Wolff•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1965

Current longitudinal studies on rats, hamsters, and guinea pigs suggest that intracranial stimulation can be used to train animals to discriminate, fight, and vocalize. Because of the unique reinforcing properties of ICS, organisms not readily reinforced by conventional methods can be trained

  • Nocturnal Gastric Secretions of Ulcer and Nonulcer Patients under Stress

    Peter Wolff, Jacob Levine•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1955

The nocturnal gastric secretions of 5 ulcer patients were compared with those of 5 nonulcer patients under normal and under mild stress conditions. Under normal conditions, the ulcer subjects all showed highly elevated gastric acidity throughout the night in comparison with the nonulcer group. Under stress, the nocturnal curves of the nonulcer group showed a marked elevation similar to but not as high as the normal curves of the ulcer group. The …
