  • Fifth Generation Warfare, Hybrid Warfare, and Gray Zone Conflict

    Open Access•Armin Krishnan•ARTICLE•Journal of Strategic Security•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 2

Strategists have noted substantial changes in warfare since the end of the Cold War. They have proposed several concepts and theories to account for the fact that the practice of war has largely departed from a Clausewitzian understanding of war and the centrality of physical violence in it. Open Access•Armin Krishnan•ARTICLE•Journal of Strategic Security•2020•References: 2

Even if most of the $2.3 trillion can be written off due to waste, corruption, and poor accounting practices, one has to wonder how much of the money was…

  • Targeting Individuals

    Armin Krishnan•ARTICLE•Arms Control•2013•Cited by: 1

Targeted killing is not new. What has changed is the nature of armed conflict, states that openly admit to the practice, and the emergence of much more capable technology. Targeting individuals seems to make sense given the changing nature of armed conflict. But whether targeting dangerous individuals is indeed legal, effective, and ethical is often impossible to determine, either in specific cases or systematically, because of the secrecy surrou…

  • Automating War

    Open Access•Armin Krishnan•ARTICLE•Arms Control•2009•Cited by: 6

New technological developments in the area of robotics and artificial intelligence have made robotic weapons systems of increasing autonomy possible. Although thousands of unmanned systems have been deployed, the vast majority are unarmed, used primarily for reconnaissance or removal of explosives. But deployment of armed robotic weapons has begun and promises to accelerate rapidly in the next decade. This article begins by proposing definitions …
