The Eu-Japan Epa and the Question of Formal and Informal Trade Barriers for European Businesses in Japan
This study focuses on how technical barriers to trade (TBT) are addressed in recent EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). We analyze the pre- and post-EPA trade policies and the contested issues in Japan from the viewpoint of European businesses. Upgrading in global value-chains
This article analyses technology upgrading in global value-chains, by using unique data from the Swedish-based home-furnishing retailer IKEA and 23 of its suppliers in China and Southeast Asia. We show how these suppliers use IKEA’s technological support to improve their operational and duplicative capabilities, and, more importantly, their adaptive and innovative capabilities.
