  • Differential Exposure to Hazardous Air Pollution in the United States

Open Access•Gary Young, Gary S Young et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2012

Population exposure to multiple chemicals in air presents significant challenges for environmental public health. Air quality regulations distinguish criteria air pollutants (CAPs) (e.g., ozone, PM2.5) from hazardous air pollutants (HAPs)-187 chemicals which include carcinogens and others that are associated with respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological and numerous other non-cancer health effects. Evidence of the public's cumulative exposure an…

  • Justice and Capitalist Production

    Open Access•Gary Young•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Philosophy•1978

Is capitalist production unjust? It is easy to think, upon first reading Marx, that he answers this question in the affirmative. And I shall argue that this naive reading is correct. • Socrates and Obedience

    Gary Young•ARTICLE•Phronesis•1974•Cited by: 6

Students of Plato have long puzzled over what seems to be a contradiction in the views expressed by Socrates in Apology and Crito. In Apology, Socrates asserts: (I) I shall not give up philosophy, even if the city commands me to doso. (Ap.29d)1 But in Crito, Socrates asserts or implies: (II) Every citizen (including myself) should obey every command of the city. (Cr. 50 a-53 a)2 From these two claims, it follows fairly straightforwardly3 that Soc…
