INTRODUCTION: In 2002, hepatitis B vaccines were incorporated into China's National Immunisation Programme (NIP). In 2009, the catch-up vaccination was introduced for children born between 1994 and 2001. Sustained impacts of the NIP, particularly the catch-up vaccination, remain unclear. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the NIP and catch-up vaccination on the incidence of hepatitis B in China. METHODS: We collected monthly reported hepat…
The impact of cancer information overload on negative emotions in newly diagnosed lung cancer patients: The mediating role of fear of progression and the moderating role of social support

Interaction of widowhood, gender, and age in predicting loneliness among older adults in China

However, research on the intersectional effects of gender, age, and widowhood on loneliness is limited, especially within the Chinese cultural context. METHODS: Using six waves (2002-2018) of national longitudinal data from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (N = 22,777), this study employed multilevel mixed-effects order…
The effects of working memory training on attention deficit, adaptive and non-adaptive cognitive emotion regulation of Chinese children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Simarrona: Beyond Etymologies toward a Practice of Unlearning
This essay proposes the historical term simarrona (used in colonial Louisiana archives) as a heuristic for unlearning certain reading practices of the term maroon and its persistent "etymology plot." Simarrona not only troubles the neat linguistic geographies of the term maroon; it foregrounds the instability of colonial grammars and their attendant binaries. The author pairs the poetic resistance with the colonial grammars of Sylvia Wynter, Aimé…
Effect of Five Driver’s Behavior Characteristics on Car-Following Safety
Driver's behavior characteristics (DBCs) influence car-following safety. Therefore, this paper aimed to analyze the effect of different DBCs on the car-following safety based on the desired safety margin (DSM) car-following model, which includes five DBC parameters. Based on the Monte Carlo simulation method, the effect of DBCs on car-following safety is investigated under a given rear-end collision (RECs) condition. We find that larger subjectiv…
Not Altogether Ridiculous
Spanning a long literary history, from 1742 to 1934, this essay argues for the military epaulette as an important material signifier through which the arbitrary nature of rank and colonial authority was revealed and challenged. "Hell You Talmbout?" Sighting confusion in the performance of Black Revolt
This essay considers how “confusion” shapes narrative strategies and understandings of the 1811 Uprising in Louisiana and how artistic practice, performance, and amateur documentation differently refract public memory-making of the uprising and its brutal response. Here confusion also maps the relations between reenactment, the reenactors, and the practice and politics of abolitionist imagination

Background: Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is a disaster common critical event which frequently occurs in a variety of clinical scenarios. To investigate the protective effect of Wy14643 (WY) precondition against hepatic ischemia/ reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats and its potential mechanism. Methods: Thirty Sprague–Dawley male rats weighing 220-250 g were randomly divided into three groups (n=10) including the sham-operated +saline grou…
Simultaneous determination of flavonoids and triterpenoids in Cyclocarya paliurus leaves using high-performance liquid chromatography
Background: Cyclocarya paliurus is an endangered plant and endemic to China. The leaves of C. paliurus have been used in drug formulations and as ingredients in functional foods in China. The aim of this study was to develop an effective method to extract most of the compounds and to establish a simplified HPLC analytical method to determine the contents of major bioactive compounds simultaneously.Materials and methods: High-performance liquid ch…

Hypoxia in the changing marine environment
The predicted future of the global marine environment, as a combined result of forcing due to climate change (e.g. warming and acidification) and other anthropogenic perturbation (e.g. eutrophication), presents a challenge to the sustainability of ecosystems from tropics to high latitudes. Among the various associated phenomena of ecosystem deterioration, hypoxia can cause serious problems in coastal areas as well as oxygen minimum zones in the o…
