Unraveling the Thought Probes of US Legislators on Trade Negotiations
A plethora of literature has investigated the voting behavior of US legislators on trade bills to reveal a possible causal mechanism. Relying on dichotomous roll‐call voting data, however, has certain limitations on revealing the comprehensive thought probes of lawmakers on a complex diplomatic issue such as making an FTA deal. Nationalization of the 2020 US Elections
본 연구는 2020년 미국 선거에서 선거의 전국화 현상이 관찰되는지 여부에 대해서 경험적으로 분석하였다. 기존의 연구들은 대선과 의회 선거, 또는 대선과 주지사 선거의 비교를 통해 선거의 전국화 경향에 대해 검증해 왔으나, 대선과 주민투표(ballot measures) 간의 동조화에 대해서는 상대적으로 관심이 부족했다. 캘리포니아 58개 카운티에서의 바이든 지지율과 12개 주민발의안에 대한 찬반비율의 상관관계를 분석한 결과, 두 선거는 높은 상관성을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이 같은 결과는 인구 규모나 중위가구소득, 인종과 같은 변수들을 통제한 상황에서도 유효하였다. 비록 민주당은 캘리포니아 주민투표에서 참패했지만, 캘리포니아의 각 카운티에서 대통령의 인기나 정당의 브랜드는 여전히 중요한 투표 선택의 요소로 고려되고 있었다. 포스트 트럼프 시대에서 선거의 전국화 경향은 더 가속화될 수 있으며, …

Between 1860 and 1914 cases of fire in Russia skyrocketed tenfold, with an especially dramatic rise in rural Russian after the turn of the century. This increase was closely related to the fire insurance policy of zemstvos as well as to the impact of the Stolypin agrarian reform upon peasant families and communities.
