Deliberate Misdiagnosis in Mental Health Practice
A survey using clinical social workers as informed observers of mental health practice provides the basis for the exploration of an unrecognized but widespread form of diagnostic error that we term "deliberate misdiagnosis." If advocacy is to be a significant aspect of social work it is necessary to distinguish it from other forms of action in which social workers engage, and it must be practiced methodically.
