    In 1581 Aldo Manuzio the younger, frustrated by vain attempts to elicit from Tasso a copy of his Rime, did his best with the unsatisfactory material at his disposal and produced an edition. An interesting exemplar of this edition, containing manuscript corrections in Manuzio's hand, is in the British Museum.
