  • Rhinovirus prevalence as indicator for efficacy of measures against Sars-CoV-2

    Open Access•Simo Kitanovski, Gibran Horemheb-Rubio et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

RV prevalence is negatively correlated with the stringency of anti-SARS-CoV-2 measures with only a short time delay. This result suggests that RV prevalence could possibly be an indicator for the efficiency for these measures. As RV is ubiquitous at higher prevalence than SARS-CoV-2 or other emerging respiratory viruses, it could reflect the efficacy of noninvasive measures better than such emerging viruses themselves with their unevenly spreadin…

Open Access•Kerrie Davies, Jody Lawrence et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2020

Background There are conflicting data on the risk factors for Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) in the literature. Aims To use two C. difficile infection (CDI) case-control study groups to compare risk factors in hospitalised patients with diarrhoea across different countries. Methods A multi-centre group of CDI cases/controls were identified by standardised testing from seven countries from the prior EUropean, multi-centre, prospective bi-an…

  • Acquisition of complementation

Open Access•Lois Bloom, Matthew Rispoli et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Child Language•1989

This study concerns the acquisition of complex sentences with perception and epistemic verbs that take a second verb in their complements. The acquisition of complementation began between two and three years of age in this longitudinal study of four children's spontaneous speech. The results of the study showed that (1) complement types and complementizer connectives and (2) the discourse contexts in which complementation occurred were specific t…
