  • Early cognitive-linguistic skills as predictors of concurrent and longitudinal poor reader status in Hong Kong Chinese primary school children

Open Access•Yijun Ruan, Urs Maurer et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Dyslexia•2026

The present study investigated the roles of various cognitive-linguistic skills in predicting poor reader status concurrently and longitudinally with a sample of Hong Kong Chinese primary school children. Children from grade 1 to grade 3 ( n = 358) were measured on tests of Chinese word reading, phonological awareness (PA), morphological awareness (MA), orthographic awareness (OA), rapid automatized naming (RAN), and delayed copying (DC) individu…

  • How Do Word Reading and Word Spelling Develop Over Time? A Three‐Year Longitudinal Study of Hong Kong Chinese–English Bilingual Children

    Open Access•Yijun Ruan, Yanyan Ye et al.•ARTICLE•Reading Research Quarterly•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 92

Word reading and word spelling are important processes of literacy acquisition for children. The longitudinal relationship between reading and spelling is still unclear, especially among bilinguals and biscriptals. In the present study, we compared the longitudinal word reading–spelling relationship in L1 (Chinese) and L2 (English), together with early cognitive‐linguistic skills. Participants were 182 pairs of Chinese–English bilingual twins who…

  • Relations among phonological processing skills and mathematics in children

Xiujie Yang, Mengge Yan et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Educational Psychology•2022

  • Literacy learning in early Chinese-English bilinguals

Open Access•Yanyan Ye, Mengge Yan et al.•ARTICLE•Early Childhood Research Quarterly•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 3

  • The neuropsychological mechanism of therapy in depression and anxiety disorder

Zheng Ren, Zhihong Ren et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2017
