  • Bridging the Gap

Open Access•Gloria Alarcón García, José Daniel Buendía Azorín et al.•ARTICLE•Urban Science•2025

This research situates urban planning as a social well-being determinant, highlighting that cities function as social habitats that shape individuals’ quality of life, as well as being physical spaces. The study emphasises the dangers of inadequate urban management, particularly when it is based on biased or incomplete information. This has the potential to exacerbate inequality and undermine the benefits of urbanisation. The present study focuse…

  • A new proposal to model regional input–output structures using location quotients. An application to Korean and Spanish regions

Open Access•José Daniel Buendía Azorín, Rubén Martínez Alpañez et al.•ARTICLE•Papers of the Regional Science…•2022•References: 12

This paper is based on the use of Flegg's location quotients (FLQ) and proposes a novel procedure for the estimation of the unknown parameter δ in regions with and without input–output frame availability. Applied to data for the Korean regions for the year 2015, firstly the determination of the optimal δ is addressed by solving a general optimization problem and, secondly, a regression equation is proposed to estimate the value of δ from the expl…

  • Tax Evasion in Europe

Open Access•Gloria Alarcón García, José Daniel Buendía Azorín et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science Quarterly•2018•Cited by: 1•References: 39

Objective This article attempts to analyze tax evasion as a fundamental element of tax morale in the European countries from the perspective of spatial dependence. This research focuses on the contextual differences using country‐level and cross‐sectional European Value Survey data for the year 2008 to estimate the factors that affect the rejection of tax evasion. Method The application of a generalized linear model using spatial filtering allowe…
