  • Delivery type and neonatal mortality among 10,749 breeches

    J A Fortney, James Higgins et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1986•Cited by: 3•References: 13

Data on 10,749 breech presentations were analyzed for the effect of delivery type on neonatal mortality. Most of the data are from developing countries, and most of the hospitals have higher mortality than is found in Europe or the United States. The simultaneous effect of type of hospital where the delivery occurred, type of breech, birthweight, and parity were examined. The benefit of cesarean delivery was greater for nulliparae than multiparae…

    I Chi, I-Cheng Chi et al.•ARTICLE•Studies in Family Planning•1984

Data on 11,977 insertions of an intrauterine device (IUD) from 25 collaborating centers in 16 less developed countries (LDCs) were investigated for IUD-associated hospitalizations. These centers maintained regular follow-up and reported at least one hospitalization among their IUD cases. The Lippes Loop, Copper T, Delta Loop, and Delta T were the most commonly used devices, and three-fourths of all devices were inserted in postpartum women. Fifty…

  • The Menstrual Regulation Procedure

    Leonard E Laufe•ARTICLE•Studies in Family Planning•1977•Cited by: 2

Menstrual regulation is the induction of uterine bleeding that has been delayed up to 14 days from its anticipated date of onset. MR can be accomplished mechanically and through the administration of drugs. By far the most common method of performing menstrual regulation is by mini-vacuum aspiration. Induction of delayed menstruation through prostaglandin compounds initially appeared promising but was associated with a high and unacceptable incid…
