  • Understanding Community Green spaces’ Leisure Attractiveness for Older Adults Based on Spatial Heterogeneity

Hui Li, Haiwei Li et al.•ARTICLE•Leisure Sciences•2026

Understanding community green spaces (CGSs) for elderly leisure is vital to age-friendly societies. However, research lacks integrated approaches to capture the daily leisure needs of older adults in China’s urbanizing contexts and community scale. This study applies push‐pull theory, combining ResNet‐50‐based perception and accessibility to quantify Leisure Attractiveness (LA) and identify its environmental drivers via Geographic Weighted Regres…

Open Access•Wenjun Zhang, Tianqi Huang•ARTICLE•The Journal of Chinese Sociology•2026

Through an examination of the apprenticeship system within the hairdressing industry in Song County, Shandong Province, this study finds that, since the 1990s, the master-apprentice relationship has gradually shifted from a quasi-family relationship to a quasi-employment relationship , transitioning from a foundation of qing (情; affection) to one of li (利; profit). This study employs a yi-li-qing (义-利-情; obligation- profit- affection) analytical …

  • Subsurface cooling trend in the Southern Tropical Indian Ocean (1958–2023) linked with global warming and the Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation

Open Access•Kangshun Ao, Wenjun Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2025

Over the past 66 years, the upper ocean heat content (OHC, 0–400 m) in the Southern tropical Indian Ocean (TIO) has not increased despite ongoing global warming and rapid local sea surface temperature rises. Here we show that the decrease in OHC is primarily due to the local subsurface cooling at depths of approximately 60–400 m. The increasing cyclonic surface wind stress in the TIO has intensified Ekman pumping locally, thereby enhancing vertic…

Appraisal Theory expands on the concept of the interpersonal meaning found in Systemic Functional Linguistics. As one of the three distinct types of the Appraisal System, the Engagement System (ES) is frequently employed to deconstruct the speakers’ position in their speeches to better understand how they manipulate interpersonal interactions with their audience. The UAM Corpus Tool 6.0 was applied in this study to undertake an in-depth quantitat…

  • CEO political liberalism, stakeholders, and firms’ support for LGBT employees

    Open Access•David H Weng, You‐Ta Chuang et al.•ARTICLE•The Leadership Quarterly•2023

We argue that CEO political liberalism, or the extent to which CEOs are more liberal rather than conservative, affects firms’ support for LGBT employees. Specifically, compared to conservative CEOs, liberal CEOs will be more likely to support LGBT employees by implementing LGBT-friendly policies. We furthermore posit that the presence of certain internal and external stakeholders—including boards, top management teams, and employees, as well as t…

    Open Access•Wenjun Zhang•ARTICLE•Synthese•2023•References: 22

  • Trope Mental Causation

Open Access•Wenjun Zhang•ARTICLE•Ergo an Open Access Journal of…•2022

A popular solution to the causal exclusion problem in the non-reductive physicalist camp is the trope identity solution. But this solution is haunted by the “quausation problem” which charges that the trope only confers causal powers qua physical, not qua mental. Although proponents of the trope solution have responded to the problem by denying the existence of properties of tropes, I do not find their reply satisfactory. Rather, I believe they h…

  • Covid-19 vaccination coverage among adolescents aged 12–17 years in three provinces of eastern China

Open Access•Taishun Li, Ruowen Qi et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Methods Two groups of subjects with no history of SARS-CoV-2 infection were included: 63 T2DM patients and 56 non-T2DM controls. Each par…

  • Exclusion, subset realization, and part‐whole relations

    Open Access•Wenjun Zhang•ARTICLE•Ratio•2022

The subset realization view proposes to solve the causal exclusion problem of non‐reductive mental instances by taking the mental instance as a part of its physical realizer. Many philosophers have argued that such a part‐whole relation will undermine physicalist realization because parts are ontologically prior to their wholes and the subset view is thus flawed. I argue that the relation that the subset view should propose is different from the …

  • A Practical Risk-Based Model for Early Warning of Seafarer Errors Using Integrated Bayesian Network and SPAR-H

Open Access•Wenjun Zhang, Xiangkun Meng et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Unsafe crew acts (UCAs) related to human errors are the main contributors to maritime accidents. The prediction of unsafe crew acts will provide an early warning for maritime accidents, which is significant to shipping companies. However, there exist gaps between the prediction models developed by researchers and those adopted by practitioners in human risk analysis (HRA) of the maritime industry. In addition, most research regarding human factor…
