Tourism, coworking spaces, and knowledge services
This paper examines how interactions between knowledge-intensive services (KIS) firms and coworking spaces (CWS) in different types of tourist subregions may shape local innovation ecosystems (LIE) in Bavaria. By differentiating between types of tourism—cultural, sports, regional, and international—and contrasting urban and non-urban contexts, the study investigates how tourism environments influence the presence and configuration of CWS in the c…

Unveiling Locational Synergies in Urban and Non‐Urban Areas
This study examines the colocation patterns of coworking spaces (CWSs) and knowledge‐intensive services (KIS) in Bavaria, Germany. Using K‐density functions, the findings reveal that urban areas foster CWS development through economic diversity and interdisciplinary knowledge environments. Tailored regional policies, including incentives for operators, investments in digital infrastructure and initiatives to attract digital nomads, are recommende…
Work-leisure concepts and tourism
Coworking spaces (CSs) have become increasingly popular as a mode and place of work, particularly in urban areas and among digital nomads. However, these spaces are also expanding in remote and attractive locations. Despite this trend, little is known about how tourism can influence the emergence of CSs. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the accommodation industry (hotels and other short-term and medium-term lodging options…
Medication Adherence in a Cross-Diagnostic Sample of Patients From the Affective-to-Psychotic Spectrum
In a large and cross-diagnostic sample, we could show that a higher level of conscientiousness, a higher number of antipsychotic medication, a better quality of life within the environmental domain, and the absence of substance abuse contribute to a better medication adherence independent of the underlying disorder
French Influences on Germany’s Commercial Courts in the Nineteenth Century
The present contribution explores the extent of influence which French law had on the development of Germany’s commercial courts in the nineteenth century. Modern literature describes this influence as marginal, yet without further proof. The author takes this state of research as a starting point to compare the Napoleonic legislation on commercial courts with the German commercial court systems of the nineteenth century. However, the present con…
Inhibition of dendritic cell differentiation and accumulation of myeloid-derived suppressor cells in cancer is regulated by S100A9 protein
Accumulation of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) associated with inhibition of dendritic cell (DC) differentiation is one of the major immunological abnormalities in cancer and leads to suppression of antitumor immune responses. The molecular mechanism of this phenomenon remains unclear. We report here that STAT3-inducible up-regulation of the myeloid-related protein S100A9 enhances MDSC production in cancer. Mice lacking this protein mou…
