Addressing Social Justice
Covering an introductory chapter, a commentary and nine full chapters published as protocol, experimental, theoretical, or empirical studies, this publication depicts the voices, perceptions, experiences and developmental outcomes of adolescents and emerging adults from countries located in four continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. The Indian, Chinese, and Mormon Questions
This article examines how the cultural concept of the American home shaped Reconstruction politics in the American West. In a post-Civil War era in which Republicans sought a national culture and homogenous citizenry, ideas about what made a proper home became a powerful way to measure the potential inclusion of western minority groups. Three “questions”—the Indian, Chinese, and Mormon Questions—became some of the most pressing and passionately d…

It aims to create a foundation for …

This paper uses the 2010 Ethnic Minority British Election Study to look at the political attitudes of Muslims in Britain. It tests the relationship between political alienation and political participation on the one hand, and Islamophobia and disapproval of British military involvement in Afghanistan on the other. The principal findings are that perceptions of Islamophobia are linked to greater political alienation, to a greater likelihood of non…
Maternal marital satisfaction during the first six months following international adoption
International adoption can be a rewarding way for parents to build a family and many varied factors contribute to a positive adoption outcome. In particular, the period of adjustment just prior to and following an international adoption is a major transition for the adoptive family. Positive outcomes are related to both lower parental stress and higher marital satisfaction of the adoptive parents, and strong marital support is a protective factor…
Exploring Urban Data Visualization and Public Participation in Planning
Regulations in urban governance stipulate that large amounts of urban data be made available to the public with the intention of informing and enhancing decision making by businesses and citizens. Yet, the Planning and Building Permit Archive for the City of Oslo as one such source of data, only enables pinhole access by the public, denying public dissemination of planning and urban development issues beyond individual building and planning cases…
