The paradox of rural depopulation and built-up growth: Insights from two decades of settlement change in China (2000–2020)
Real-time detection of harmful algal blooms using Goci II and buoy-based dissolved oxygen variations
Harmful algal blooms (HABs) threaten aquatic ecosystems and water quality, necessitating timely monitoring. Traditional satellite observations, including high-frequency sensors like Geostationary Ocean Color Imager II (GOCI-II), are often hindered by cloud cover and low-light conditions, limiting their temporal resolution and coverage. We propose a real-time approach using diel variations in dissolved oxygen (DO) measured by buoys to detect HAB i…
The evaluation of Small River water pollution caused by tailing spill in the Northeast of China using high-resolution images
An improved analytical algorithm for remote estimation of chlorophyll-a in highly turbid waters
An analytical three-band algorithm for spectrally estimating chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) has been proposed recently and the model does not need to be trained. However, the model did not consider the effects of the absorption due to colored detritus matter (CDM) and backscattering of the water column, resulting in an overestimation when Chl-a < 50 mg m − 3 and an underestimation when Chl-a ≥ 50 mg m − 3. In this letter, an improved three-band algorithm …
