  • Vegetation history during the last 28,000 years in Tamba Highland, Kyoto, Japan based on multi-analyses of sediment from the Jaga-ike mire

Open Access•Hikaru Takahara, Tomoko Manabe et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Environments and Humans•2026

Sediment cores obtained from the Jaga-ike mire, located in the inland mountainous area of the Kinki region in western Japan, date back to 28,000 cal BP. The vegetation history around the Jaga-ike mire since the Last Glacial period was reconstructed using multiproxy analyses (pollen, macrofossils, and charcoal). From 28,000 to 20,000 cal BP, forests were dominated by pinaceous conifers such as Abies, Tsuga, Picea , and Pinus as well as Betula tree…

  • Testing the Reveals-based vegetation reconstruction around Lake Biwa, western Japan, using absolute pollen productivity estimates derived from the flower counting method

    Open Access•Ryoma Hayashi, Naoko Sasaki et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2025•Referências: 59

Lake Biwa pollen records and the REVEALS model provide new insight into the past dynamic of Japanese vegetation. Instead of relying solely on pollen percentages, we employed the REVEALS model with absolute pollen productivity estimates (aPPEs) derived from flower counting approaches. The locally-obtained aPPEs, combined with a Lagrangian stochastic dispersal model (LSM), yielded results that were dramatically closer to the modern vegetation surve…

  • Estimation of absolute pollen productivity based on the flower counting approach

Open Access•Ryoma Hayashi, Naoko Sasaki et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2022

  • Optimal waist circumference cut-off points and ability of different metabolic syndrome criteria for predicting diabetes in Japanese men and women

Open Access•Huanhuan Hu, Kayo Kurotani et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

Data from the present large cohort of workers suggest that WC cut-offs of 85 cm for men and 80 cm for women may be appropriate for predicting DM for Japanese. The JIS criteria can detect more people who later develop DM than does the JCCMS criteria

  • Traditional Farming Landscapes for Sustainable Living in Scandinavia and Japan

    Open Access•Björn Berglund, Björn E Berglund et al.•ARTICLE•AMBIO•2014•Citada por: 3•Referências: 40

  • Grassland and fire history since the late-glacial in northern part of Aso Caldera, central Kyusyu, Japan, inferred from phytolith and charcoal records

Open Access•Tatsuichiro Kawano, Naoko Sasaki et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2012

  • Vegetation changes after the late period of the Last Glacial Age based on pollen analysis of the northern area of Aso Caldera in central Kyushu, Southwest Japan

Open Access•Yoshitaka Hase, Akiko Iwauchi et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2012

  • Fire and vegetation history during the last 25,000 years in the Kyoto basin and the Tamba Mountains, western Japan

  • Fire and human impact on the vegetation of the western Tamba Highlands, Kyoto, Japan during the late Holocene

    Open Access•Naoko Sasaki, Hikaru Takahara•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2012

  • Vegetation and fire history with their implication for climatic change and fire events since the last deglacial in the Aso Valley, central Kyushu, southwestern Japan
