  • Expanding the Yukon tree ring Blue Intensity network to assess divergence effects and enhance climate reconstructions

    Open Access•Emily Reid, Brian H Luckman et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2026•Referencias: 57

The Divergence Problem (DP) – classically defined as a breakdown in the relationship between tree growth and temperature in recent decades – poses a major challenge to developing robust tree-ring based climate reconstructions. This is particularly relevant in northwestern North America (NWNA), a climatically sensitive yet underrepresented region in dendroclimatological networks. To address this gap and the implications of the DP, we developed a n…

  • Challenges for Mountain Regions—Tackling Complexity

    Open Access•Brian H Luckman, Brian Luckman•ARTICLE•Mountain Research and Development•2011

  • The Mt Logan Holocene—late Wisconsinan isotope record

    Open Access•David Fisher, E C Osterberg et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2008•Citada por: 6•Referencias: 1

The ice core recovered from Prospector Russell Col on Mt Logan (5.4 km a.s.l.), in the Yukon spans over 20 000 years. This unique record offers a Pacific view of the stable isotope and chemical record from the Lateglacial to the present. The timescale is based on seasonal counted years, the largest known volcanic acid signatures and the major shift in stable isotopes and chemistry at the end of the Younger Dryas. There are large and sustained cha…

  • Impact of Climate Fluctuations on Mountain Environments in the Canadian Rockies

Brian H Luckman, Brian Luckman et al.•ARTICLE•AMBIO•2000•Citada por: 4

This paper presents examples of environmental changes in the Canadian Rockies in the context of a 1.5°C increase in mean annual temperatures over the last 100 years. During this period increases in winter temperatures have been more than twice as large as those during spring and summer. Glacier cover has decreased by at least 25% during the 20th century and glacier fronts have receded to positions last occupied ca. 3000 years ago. These two lines…

  • Oxygen Isotope Ratios from Tree Rings Containing Compression Wood

    Open Access•Brian H Luckman, Brian Luckman et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•1990

Oxygen isotope determinations on the α-cellulose of tree rings cut from two leaning Picea engelmannii revealed significant differences between results from normal and compression wood radii. Nine samples (10-year periods) from the normal wood radius (1721–1953) in one tree showed good agreement with proxy climate information and maximum differences of 1.8‰ between the “warmest” and “coolest” decades sampled. Differences of equivalent magnitude we…
