Longitudinal relations between personal belief in a just world and adolescent aggressiveness
Scholars have emphasized the need for longitudinal research to investigate the reciprocal influence of personal belief in a just world (PBJW) and aggressiveness, yet such investigations remain limited. The current study aimed to examine the bidirectional associations between PBJW and four distinct facets of aggressiveness (hostility, anger, physical aggression, and verbal aggression), and to explore the moderating roles of gender and age group. W…
The impact of a growth mindset on adolescents’ health risk behaviors: The chain mediating role of core self-evaluation and coping style
Health risk behaviors pose serious threats to adolescents’ physical and psychological well-being as well as their long-term development. Previous studies suggest that a growth mindset can serve as a positive cognitive resource that may be associated with such behaviors, but the underlying mechanisms remain underexplored. Guided by the Transactional Model of Stress and Coping, this study examined a longitudinal model in which a growth mindset is a…
Longitudinal relationship between perceived stress and Chinese adolescent aggressive behavior: The mediating role of impulse control and the moderating role of social connectedness
Early adolescence is a period of high incidence of individual problematic behaviors. This study explores the relationship between perceived stress and aggressive behavior among adolescents (aged 12–15) and its underlying mechanism based on the I 3 model. A total of 1,164 Chinese adolescents were surveyed at three time points (Time 1 = T1, Time 2 = T2, Time 3 = T3) with a 6-month interval using the Perceived Stress Scale, the Social Connectedness …
The longitudinal relationship between stressful life events and adolescent Internet addiction: A life history theory perspective
Cybervictimization and Depressive Symptoms in Middle School Students: The Role of Peer Alienation and Belief in a Just World
Cybervictimization is a salient stressor in adolescents' lives and has been demonstrated to be strongly associated with depressive symptoms. However, the mechanisms underlying this association have not been sufficiently studied. Building on the diathesis–stress model and co‐construction theory, this study investigated the mediating role of peer alienation in the relationship between cybervictimization and adolescents' depressive symptoms, and the…

A longitudinal study on depression and anxiety among Chinese adolescents in the late phase of the Covid-19 pandemic: The trajectories, antecedents, and outcomes
Longitudinal and bidirectional relationships between parental rejection, peer attachment, and adolescent depression
Birth cohort changes in anxiety levels among primary school students in China during 1995–2019: A cross-temporal meta-analysis
To investigate birth cohort changes in anxiety levels among primary school students in China, we conducted a cross-temporal meta-analysis of 126 studies (N = 109,957) reporting the anxiety levels among primary school students in China during 1995-2019 using the Mental Health Diagnostic Test (MHT); higher MHT scores indicated higher anxiety. The results showed that: (1) The MHT scores for five types of mental health problems (social anxiety, lonel…
Belief in a just world and meaning in life among Chinese adolescents: The mediating role of basic psychological need satisfaction
Previous literature has shown that adults with higher belief in a just world (BJW) experience greater meaning in life than those with less pronounced BJW. However, the role of BJW in adolescent meaning in life and the associated psychological mechanisms remain unclear. Thus, two studies were conducted to explore the roles of personal belief in a just world (PBJW) and general belief in a just world (GBJW) in meaning in life as well as the explanat…

Marketization process predicts trust decline in China
Effects of trustors' social identity complexity on interpersonal and intergroup trust
Although previous literature has revealed the effect of a single social identity on trust, only few studies have examined how multiple social identities affect trust in others. The present research examined the effects of trustors' social identity complexity on their level of trust toward another person (interpersonal trust), outgroup members (outgroup trust), and ingroup members (ingroup trust). Study 1, which was a correlational study, indicate…
