  • Social Class and Children’s Third-party Intervention Tendency and Forms

Open Access•Ya-Meng Wang, Shu ZHAO et al.•ARTICLE•Personality and Social Psychology…•2025

This study investigated how social class is related to children’s third-party intervention (TPI) tendency and forms (compensation vs. punishment). Children from different social class backgrounds watched short animated films depicting two cartoon characters making fair or unfair decisions in resource distribution scenarios. The results revealed that, compared to children from higher social classes, children from lower social classes were more lik…

  • “Renqing” or equity? The influence of favor acceptance on inequity aversion

    Zuo-Jun Wang, Zuo‐Jun Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2025

  • Chinese Adolescents' Belief in a Just World: Social Class and Age Disparities

    Open Access•Sa-Sa Lyu, Ya-Meng Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Youth & Society•2025•References: 28

This cross-sectional study examined how Chinese adolescents' belief in a just world (BJW) varied across social class and age. A sample of 2,748 adolescents aged 10 to 18 years (47.2% female; 99.1% Han ethnicity) from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds in China completed the Belief in a Just World Scale and the Socioeconomic Status Survey. Adolescents from higher social-class backgrounds were found to have higher general and personal BJW compared t…

  • Social class, schadenfreude, and children’s prosocial behavior in moral contexts

    Zuo-Jun Wang, Zuo‐Jun Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Emotion•2024

Previous research has shown mixed results regarding the relationship between social class and children's prosocial behavior. The current study aims to further our understanding of these findings by exploring the relationship between social class and children's prosocial behavior in a moral context. Study 1 ( N = 833) found that when a target child pursued a morally negative goal and subsequently experienced misfortune, children from higher social…

  • Inspiring desirability or ensuring feasibility: Destination image and psychological distance

Open Access•Fei Wang, Fang Yu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Tourism…•2022

Destination image plays a pivotal role in shaping the judgment of tourists. However, limited information is available on how tourists respond to various destination images. By using single‐factor between‐subject design, study 1 confirmed that cognitive image causes tourists to judge the destination in near‐psychological distance and that affective image causes them to judge the destination in far psychological distance. By using single‐factor and…

  • Social Class and Children’s Prosociality: A Study in the Context of China’s Dual Urban–Rural Structure

Open Access•Yi Kuang, Fei Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Social Psychological and…•2021

China’s dual urban–rural structure has resulted in rural residents with a lower social rank vis-à-vis urban residents. This research examined prosociality between lower class individuals (rural children) and higher class individuals (urban children), operationalized using the dictator game, which focuses on sharing resources with others. Two studies consistently showed that both rural and urban children were more likely to share more resources wi…

  • Close‐knit ties through thick and thin: Sharing social exclusion and acceptance enhances social bond

Open Access•Cong Gao, Deming Wang et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Social…•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 72

Three experiments investigated whether and why sharing experiences of social exclusion or social acceptance with others strengthens social bonds. Participants experienced either social exclusion or social acceptance alongside another co‐participant who either also experienced the same outcome, or experienced a different outcome, as them. Multilevel modeling results showed that participant dyads who shared the experience of social exclusion or soc…

  • Are Decisions Made by Group Representatives More Risk Averse? The Effect of Sense of Responsibility

Open Access•Zuo‐Jun Wang, Yi Kuang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Behavioral Decision…•2017•Cited by: 2•References: 8

We tested the hypothesis that a sense of responsibility drives group representatives' decisions to be more risk averse compared with decisions made by individuals. The hypothesis was supported when the monetary considerations (i.e., payoff inequality and the magnitude effect) were controlled for in the potential gain domain as well as in the potential loss domain. Evidence showed that this is because the group representatives were concerned about…

  • A Scanpath Analysis of the Risky Decision‐Making Process

    Open Access•Lei Zhou, Yang‐Yang Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Behavioral Decision…•2016•Cited by: 2•References: 3

In the field of eye tracking, scanpath analysis can reflect the sequential and temporal properties of the cognitive process. However, the advantages of scanpath analysis have not yet been utilized in the study of risky decision making. We explored the methodological applicability of scanpath analysis to test models of risky decision making by analyzing published data from the eye‐tracking studies of Su et al. (2013); Wang and Li (2012), and Sun, …

  • Tests of the Integrative Model and Priority Heuristic Model from the Point of View of Choice Process: Evidence from an Eye-tracking Study

    Zuo-Jun Wang, Zuo‐Jun Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2013
