  • A Bipartite Network Analysis of Terrorism in Nigeria

    Open Access•Andrea Corradi, D Felmlee et al.•ARTICLE•Crime & Delinquency•2025

Nigeria is home to a variety of terror groups, some of which receive little scholarly or media attention, but whose violent attacks cause significant casualties and instability. This analysis uses a bipartite network approach to examine terror groups in Nigeria between 2009 and 2019. We capture substantial variation among terrorist groups by state, target type and attack mode, and consider “unknown” terrorist offenders. Although Boko Haram is the…

  • Development and Integration of Community Advisory Boards to Inform Research on the Impact of Structural Racism on Racial/Ethnic Disparities in End‐Stage Kidney Disease

    Open Access•Andrea Corradi, Gustavo Velasquez-Melendez et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2025

INTRODUCTION: Community Advisory Boards (CABs) represent a critical methodological approach to center research on the experiences of patients and families and minimise power inequities between 'researcher' and 'subject'. This approach can be especially important to inform work related to structural racism and racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare. Herein, we report the value and challenges of integrating CABs into ongoing research on struct…

Using a mixed-methods approach informed by constructivist grounded theory, we examine fear and perception of victimization risk of terrorism in Canada in 262 individuals from a gendered perspective, contrasting it with similar measures for crime, finding that women both significant…

  • Did Mass Incarceration Leave Americans Feeling Less Afraid? A Multilevel Analysis of Cumulative Imprisonment and Individual Perceptions of Fear

    Andrea Corradi, Eric P Baumer•ARTICLE•Justice Quarterly•2022

Much of the political rhetoric that facilitated mass incarceration was predicated on the promise of reducing fear among the public. Yet, it remains unclear whether the large increases in imprisonment experienced in many areas made residents feel less afraid. We examine this issue by integrating geographic data on imprisonment with individual-level data on fear from the General Social Survey (GSS). We find that people from states and counties with…
