  • Personality functioning in treatment-referred youth

Danique A M van den Hanenberg, Hilde D Schuiringa et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social and Clinical…•2026

Introduction: Previous research investigated the interplay between impairments in personality functioning and perceived negative interactions with parents. Those studies mostly utilized cross-sectional methodologies in community samples. This study aimed to clarify the direction of associations between impaired personality functioning (i.e., difficulties in identity formation and less capacity of empathy and intimacy) and perceived negative inter…

  • Secondary teachers’ experiences of presence in teaching

    Open Access•Edith C J Roefs, Ida E Oosterheert et al.•ARTICLE•Teaching and Teacher Education•2024•References: 14

This study examined the recognition and perceived significance of presence in teaching among secondary school teachers (N = 258) using a narrative vignettes instrument. Results showed that on average, secondary teachers experience presence in teaching in more than half of their lessons. They consider presence in teaching to be associated with the essence of teaching, and relevant for gratifying teaching experiences and for students’ development a…

  • Youth Perceived Social Support and Symptom Distress

Open Access•Eline M Meuleman, William M van der Veld et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Youth and Adolescence•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 45

Although social support and mental health associations have been extensively investigated, their reciprocal relations in vulnerable youth remain understudied. The sample included 257 youth (79% self-identified women , M age = 19.2, SD = 2.5) who were receiving mental h…

  • School‐wide positive behavioral interventions and supports in Dutch elementary schools

    Open Access•Monique J M Nelen, Ron H J Scholte et al.•ARTICLE•Psychology in the Schools•2021

In 2009, School‐Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) was introduced in the Netherlands to support schools in creating safe learning environments. In this longitudinal study, we explored effects of SWPBIS on student outcomes in the Netherlands. Fidelity of implementation of SWPBIS has been associated with improved student outcomes. The purpose of this study was to examine the relation between changes in fidelity and student…

  • Psychometric properties of the Positive Mental Health Scale (PMH-scale)

Open Access•Justina Lukat, Jürgen Margraf et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2016

These findings suggest that the PMH-Scale indeed measures a single concept and allows us to compare scores over groups and over time. The PMH-scale thus is a brief and easy to interpret instrument for measuring PMH across a large variety of relevant groups

  • Testing Structural Equation Models or Detection of Misspecifications?

Willem E Saris, Albert Satorra et al.•ARTICLE•Structural Equation Modeling: A…•2009

Assessing the correctness of a structural equation model is essential to avoid drawing incorrect conclusions from empirical research. In the past, the chi-square test was recommended for assessing the correctness of the model but this test has been criticized because of its sensitivity to sample size. As a reaction, an abundance of fit indexes have been developed. The result of these developments is that structural equation modeling packages are …
