  • Decoding the cascading architecture of creative ideation: An ERP study

Open Access•Weixing Yang, Xiaoqing Ma et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2025

Creative ideation (CI) refers to the process of generating original ideas in response to open-ended problems, with idea generation and evaluation being two key cognitive processes involved in CI. However, the current theoretical debate concerns how these two processes support CI. One perspective posits a serial model where idea generation and evaluation occur sequentially, while another argues for a parallel model where these stages operate simul…

Methods: Utilizing data from 983 disabled middle-aged and older adults in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) from 2013 to 2020, latent growth mixture models were constructed to analyze the categories of cognitive function development trajectories and their predictive factors. Results: T…

  • Depression in middle-aged and older adults with hearing loss: The use and construction of a nomogram tool

Open Access•Qiankun Liu, Zhongtao Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Objective This study aims to explore the influencing factors of depressive symptoms in middle-aged and older adult patients with hearing loss and to construct a nomogram risk prediction model. Methods A total of 2,729 middle-aged and older adult patients with hearing loss from the community were selected as the study subjects. Single-factor and multifactorial stepwise logistic regression analyses were used to screen influencing factors. Based on …

  • Relationships between screen time and childhood attention deficit hyperactivity disorder: A Mendelian randomization study

Open Access•Zhuo Meng, Bo Ao et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2024

This study provides some evidence for the causality of screen time and childhood ADHD. Given the limitations of our study, further research is required to comprehensively investigate this relationship

  • Biological aging mediates the association between volatile organic compounds and cardiovascular disease

Open Access•Qingqing Cao, Yu Song et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

The risk of CVD was found to increase with both individual and combined exposure to VOCs. BA mediates the positive effects of VOCs on CVD, suggesting that this pathway may be one of the mechanisms of CVD

  • The effect of intrinsic motivation and environmental cues on social creativity

Xiaoqing Ma, Zhi Bie et al.•ARTICLE•Interactive Learning Environments•2023

Motivation is key to the generation of creative ideas, intrinsic motivation is the core driving force of creativity. Researchers believe that individuals with higher intrinsic motivation will produce higher novelty and flexibility. Creativity may also be influenced by environmental cues, which are objects in the environment that individuals can use to solve problems. This study investigated the influence of intrinsic motivation and environmental …

  • Is Self-Control an “Angel” or a “Devil”? The Effect of Internet Game Disorder on Adolescent Subjective Well-Being

Open Access•Qianqian Li, Yuanyuan Tan et al.•ARTICLE•Cyberpsychology Behavior and…•2022

Recent studies have shown that Internet game disorder (IGD) is a significant risk factor of subjective well-being among adolescents. However, there are few studies about the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this relationship. This study examined the mediating role of sleep quality in the relationship between IGD and adolescent subjective well-being, and the moderating role of self-control in this mediational process. We collected da…

  • Can the Effect of Problem Solvers’ Characteristics on Adolescents’ Cooperative Problem Solving Ability Be Improved by Group Sizes

Open Access•Chuanhua Gu, Xiaoqing Ma et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Cooperative problem solving (CPS) is an essential ability in people's daily life. When individuals with different problem-solvers' characteristics (orientation and style) are assigned to different group sizes to solve social tasks, what are the differences in the performance of CPS ability? Based on this, through online experimental tasks, the present study examined the effect of problem-solving orientation and style on CPS ability in online soci…

  • Meteorological conditions contributed to changes in dominant patterns of summer ozone pollution in Eastern China

    Open Access•Zhicong Yin, Xiaoqing Ma•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2020

Ground-level O 3 pollution has become one of the most consequential air quality problems in China. Many previous studies have addressed the increasing trend of surface O 3 concentrations in Eastern China. In this study, a new feature, i.e. the change in the dominant patterns of surface O 3 , was revealed, and the associated physical mechanisms were analyzed. The impacts of meteorological conditions and anthropogenic emissions were separated, and …

Xiaoqing Ma, Xiao-Qing Ma et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2009
