Domuzağılı Locality in Konyaaltı, Antalya
The “Domuzağılı First Degree Archaeological Site” lies within the Hacısekiler environs of the Konyaaltı District, Antalya, approximately 8 km inland, south of the Çandır Stream. In 2022, fieldwork was conducted to document the site’s condition following recent damage, with primary focus on the necropolis; the forest-covered settlement area was examined only in outline. Archaeological evidence for 9th and 8th millennia BC at Girmeler Cave near Tlos in SW Turkey
A mound settlement in front of the Girmeler Cave near the major Lycian city of Tlos in SW Turkey revealed evidence for occupation during the late 9th and 8th millennia BC. The ccupation is characterized by a structure with at least two layers of lime-plastered floor, hearths and bins and a wattle-and-daub superstructure, all pointing to a sedentary community engaged in intensive hunting and gathering. The ongoing excavations initiated in 2003 on the Tepecik acropolis at Patara have brought to light many noteworthy results concerning the somewhat obscure history and archaeology of Archaic Patara. The very rich pottery finds confirming the Archaic dating of the building complex are particularly important.
