Empirical analysis of dramatic structure
This study investigated perceptions of dramatic structure. Subjects were randomly assigned to groups in which they only read, only saw, or read and then saw Edward Albee's The Zoo Story. The script was divided into motivational units and the subjects in each group completed a questionnaire ranking and rating the units with respect to dramatic tension.
