Fragments of an early Islamic Arabic papyrus from Khirbet Hamrā Ifdān
Excavations in 2013 at the site of Khirbet Hamrā Ifdān in the Faynān revealed several pieces of an Arabic papyrus, the first ever found in Jordan. Although the papyrus is poorly preserved, a detailed analysis of the fragments based on parallels have suggested that it dates to the late seventh/early–mid‐eighth century AD . This article discusses the papyrus fragments and places them within their papyrological and archaeological contexts

Soundings at Ash-Shorabat and Khirbat Dubab in the Wadi Hasa, Jordan
The objective of the fieldwork was to test whether or not the sites have a stratigraphic sequence covering Late Bronze-Iron I-Iron II. The stratigraphy was published in Levant 29 (1997). This paper is the final report on the pottery. The complete sequence from Ash-Shorabat Area I is published, demonstrating that the only in situ remains dated to Iron II. Out-of-context Early Bronze I pottery, mostly from Area II, is also presented. From Khirbat D…
Soundings at Ash-Shorabat and Khirbat Dubab in the Wadi Hasa, Jordan
The objective of the fieldwork was to test whether or not the two sites have a stratigraphic sequence covering Late Bronze-Iron I-Iron II, as implied by MacDonald's and Miller's surveys. This paper is the final report on the stratigraphy. Two soundings at Ash-Shorabat consisted of several phases, all entirely within Iron II, but with out-of-context Early Bronze I pottery. Eight soundings at Khirbat Dubab uncovered several phases of Nabataean to L…
Excavations at Wadi Fidan 4
The site of Wadi Fidan 4 can now be definitively dated as an extended village settlement of the Chalcolithic period. Excavation in Areas A, Band D as well as surface survey of the site indicate that the entire surface of the plateau was covered by buildings. At present no full botanical or faunal reports are available, and as a result little can be said about the subsistence economy. It is clear however from the metallurgical finds and mining pic…

Family Planning Needs and Behavior of Mexican American Women
A random sample of Mexican American women and a sample of family planning health care professionals, both from two major southwestern cities in the United States, were compared in terms of their reports of birth control methods used, problems in obtaining family planning services, and values involved in making fertility-related decisions, within the Mexican American population. This comparison was made in order to assess the accuracy of family pl…
