Excavations in the Middle Ward Mont Orgueil, Gorey, Jersey
The few diggings on a small scale which have been made during the past twenty years have sufficed, nevertheless, to establish the fact that the promontory upon which the Castle stands has had its human inhabitants, off and on, ever since mid-Palaeolithic times and that in the soil which partly clothes it, evidences of their presence lay or lie.N. V. L. Rybot, 1950
Some examples of Medieval Oxidized and Decorated earthenwares occurring in North-Eastern France
THIS PAPER concludes a programme of research into the medieval earthenwares of the littoral of N. and W. France.1 (This particular research was done with the aid of a Colt Fund grant.) As in the earlier work, information was obtained by a study of suitable material held in museum collections; in this case located in the ME. of France
The Contents of an Eighteenth-century Well at Bishops Waltham, Hants
The contents of a well behind a town house included pottery, clay pipes and leather shoes. The date suggested for the deposit is 1790-1800, but there was an unusually large amount of earlier material. This may indicate the clearing out of a house by a new owner and the disposal of outdated material
