  • The Late Glacial and Early Holocene record of climatic and hydrologic evolution in Haleckie Lake (NE Poland)

    Open Access•Joanna Mirosław-Grabowska, Edyta Zawisza et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2026

  • Studnia z Dąbrówki koło Poznania. Nowe źródła do badań nad początkami osadnictwa grodowego w Wielkopolsce

Open Access•Ewa Pawlak, Paweł Pawlak et al.•ARTICLE•Slavia Antiqua Rocznik poświęcony…•2024

In 2021, research was carried out which, despite its small scope, yielded a number of interesting discoveries related to Dąbrówka stronghold settlement. The most significant was the discovery of a well with preserved oak casing, built no earlier than in 870 and no later than in the mid-870s. This sequence of dates, however, covers a long period from 855 (-0/+8) to 878 (-7/+8) and indicates the use of raw material for developments of much greater …

  • The persistent place at Lubrza

    Open Access•Iwona Sobkowiak-Tabaka, Krystyna Milecka et al.•ARTICLE•Vegetation History and…•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 12

This paper summarises the results of multidisciplinary research, including pollen, plant macroremains, diatoms, Cladocera, molluscs and geochemistry from a 14 C dated core and geomorphological records, which reconstruct the palaeoenvironmental conditions faced by Late Palaeolithic hunter-gathers in western Poland. Particular attention was paid to evidence for both human activity and the degree to which Late Palaeolithic groups may have affected t…

  • Susceptibility of small boreal lakes to environmental changes as inferred from organic sediments of Lake Talvilampi (Finland)

    Open Access•Krystyna Milecka, Joanna Mirosław-Grabowska et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•References: 10

During the Holocene, multiple thermal changes commonly occurred in the northern hemisphere. They are well-recorded in lakes with minimum human impact from the Arctic Circle area. The development of these lakes reflects ecological and climatic changes occurring from the formation of the lakes until present-day times. All environmental fluctuations affect biodiversity and are reflected in the number and composition of species. The goals of this stu…

  • Multi-proxy records of Mesolithic activity in the Lubuskie Lakeland (western Poland)

    Open Access•Iwona Sobkowiak-Tabaka, Dominik Pawłowski et al.•ARTICLE•Vegetation History and…•2019•Cited by: 2•References: 15

The results of high-resolution records of pollen, plant macroremains and charred plant particles, diatoms, Cladocera and geochemistry from a 14 C-dated core, and geomorphological studies enabled the reconstruction of landscape development at a site in western Poland which was occupied by Mesolithic hunter-gatherer groups. Special attention was paid to the evidence of human activities recorded in the sediments of the palaeolake located next to the…

  • Palaeoecological record of natural changes and human impact in a small river valley in Central Poland

Open Access•Dominik Pawłowski, Krystyna Milecka et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2015

  • Disentangling the drivers for the development of a Baltic bog during the Little Ice Age in northern Poland

Open Access•Mariusz Gałka, Kazimierz Tobolski et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2014

Article The paleobotanical view of an Early Medieval settlement in Giecz in the light of other fortified settlement centres of central Wielkopolska was published on January 1, 2001 in the journal Praehistorische Zeitschrift (volume 76, issue 1)
