Necklaces from Luzino – what do they tell us about the deceased? Reconstruction of the arrangement and an attempt to determine the social significance of beads from a cemetery of the Dębczyno Group
The study presents the reconstruction and interpretation of two necklaces discovered in grave no. 206 at the Luzino cemetery, the easternmost burial ground of the Dębczyno group in northern Poland. The assemblage, comprising 174 beads of amber, glass, and a single crinoid specimen, represents one of the best-preserved examples of bead ornaments within this cultural horizon. Cemetery at Luzino – the easternmost located site of the Dębczyno Group in Poland (Pomerania)
Luzino burial ground is the easternmost site of the Dębczyno group, located in Wejherowo county, in the northern Polish province of Pomerania. The cemetery occupied the summit of a slightly elevated terrain ridge. The remains of 20 graves, most probably only skeletal burials, were recorded, in which, apart from one case, no bone material survived. Grave goods were recorded in five of them. In this article the pottery obtained from three wells from the settlement in Kwiatków was analyzed. A multicultural site of Smólsk 1, Włocławek commune was subjected to a rescue archaeological excavation prior to the construction of the A1 motorway. Archaeological investigations were conducted by a team from the Foundation of the University of Lodz. An area of 2,37 ha has been excavated, and 618 features were recorded. It is highly probable, that this artifact could be connected with the Lusatian culture.
