It functioned during the development of the entire Linear Pottery culture (LBK) and the subsequent Malice culture (MC), in the period from 5300 to 4500 BC. • Early Neolithic Flint Assemblages from the Targowisko Settlement Region

    Open Access•Marcin Wąs•ARTICLE•Analecta Archaeologica…•2021

The article presents flint materials obtained from domestic facilities from the late phase of “Linienbandkeramik” from the Brzezie 40 and Targowisko 16 sites and the classic phase of the Malice culture from the 14–15 Targowisko site. These complexes contain relatively few monuments. Their advantage, however, is that they belong to chronologically compact groups. • Culture transformation in Targowisko microregion. Trends of changes inside Danubian farmers

Open Access•ławomir Kadrow, Martin Posselt et al.•ARTICLE•Sprawozdania Archeologiczne•2021•Cited by: 3

The aim of this article is to deepen the discussion on the nature and mechanisms of culture change based on the analysis of newly acquired materials from the Targowisko settlement region. Three groups of materials were acquired (from narrow time horizons) related to the single-phase relics of Linienbandkeramik (Brzezie, site 40 and Targowisko, site 16) and Malice culture houses (Targowisko, site 14-15). The absolute chronology of the beginning of…

  • Middle Palaeolithic flint materials from Central Poland. Case study of the site Polesie 1, Łowicz county, Łódź voivodship

Open Access•Marcin Wąs, Lucyna Domańska et al.•ARTICLE•Sprawozdania Archeologiczne•2020

This paper deals with the presentation of flint artefacts of Middle Palaeolithic provenience discovered during the excavations at the site of Polesie 1 in the central part of Central Poland. An in-depth analysis of its morphology, taphonomy and readable technological features helped uncover some elements of the products of the Micoquian tradition. This article discusses these extraordinary findings in the context of their importance as the northe…

  • Jurrasic-Cracow Flint in the Linear Pottery Culture in Kuyavia, Chełmno Land and the Lower Vistula Region

Joanna Pyzel, Marcin Wąs•CHAPTER•Between History and Archaeology•2018

Jurrasic-Cracow flint was one of the most important lithic raw materials in the Linear Pottery Culture (LBK) in Poland. It is registered in numerous assemblages in the Polish Lowland, but its percentages and technological structures vary through time. This paper presents the current state of research on Jurrasic-Cracow flint procurement, which is discussed in the broad context of cultural developments of early farming communities in the areas of …

  • The beginnings of the Neolithic in Eastern Pomerania

Open Access•Lech Czerniak, Joanna Pyzel et al.•ARTICLE•Sprawozdania Archeologiczne•2016

The aim of this article is to report on the remains of the first permanent Linear Pottery culture (LBK) settlement to be recorded in Eastern Pomerania, at a site in Kościelna Jania. Exceptional aspects of this discovery include the presence of what had very probably been longhouses, the large number of artefacts, the site's far-northern location in relation to large LBK enclaves and the relatively early date to which it has been attributed – name…

  • Janisławickie" i "wstęgowe" koncepcje rdzeniowania wiórowego. Próba konfrontacji technologicznej

    Open Access•Marcin Wąs•ARTICLE•Acta Universitatis Lodziensis…•2011•References: 1

In the article a comparative analysis of technology of blade production in the late Mesolithic Janislavice culture and early Neolithic Linear Pottery culture is presented. In earlier literature attempts were made to indicate genetic connections of int production of both cultures based on similarities of blade cores and blades morphology. The conducted characteristics of micromorphology of these blade core parts, which play an active part in the p…
