New evidence on the Late Bronze – Early Iron Age human nutrition in the Crimea (northern Pontic Region) based on the stable isotope analysis and radiocarbon dating
The application of geochemical methods (stable isotope δ13C, δ15N analysis, chemical elemental analysis and radiocarbon dating) for studying human and animal bones from burials and cultural layers of archaeological sites of Crimea made it possible to highlight the issues of the development of agriculture and cattle-bгeeding during the Late Bronze – Early Iron Ages. One of the controversial questions is the problem of transition from sedentary for…
Impact of Paleoclimatic Changes on the Cultural and Historical Processes at the Turn of the Late Bronze—Early Iron Ages in the Northern Black Sea Region
The Late Bronze Age crisis is one of the most significant events in human history an had occurred in about 1200 BCE. The aridization was one the reasons of a decline of agriculture, migrant expansion and the transition to nomadic style of life. In Eastern Mediterranean the collapse of the advanced civilizations such as the Mycenaean, Hittite, Canaanite, Akkadian occurred in this time. The reconstruction of cultural-historical processes at the tur…
South-East Black Sea coast in Early Holocene period (according to interdisciplinary archaeological investigations in Kobuleti site)
The paper presents the results of interdisciplinary research carried out at the Kobuleti Early Holocene site. Typological and use-wear analyses of stone artifacts helped to define the main branch of the economy of humans at the site. Palynological studies were conducted to reconstruct the paleoenvironment. The investigated plant spores proved that the climate in the Early Holocene was warm. Definition of an absolute date by means of the radiocarb…
