  • Neuromorphological Alterations in the Somatosensory System of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

Open Access•Qi Wu, Qikai Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2026

Background/Objectives: This systematic review synthesizes MRI evidence to characterize neuromorphological alterations in somatosensory and vestibular brain regions among adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Methods: This systematic review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. We systematically searched five databases from inception to January 2026 for case–control MRI studies comparing AIS patients (10–18 years) wit…

  • Network pharmacology-based analysis on bioactive anti-diabetic compounds in Potentilla discolor bunge

  • Significance and timing of the mid-17th-century eruption of Long Island, Papua New Guinea

    Open Access•Russell Blong, Stewart J Fallon et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2017•Cited by: 2•References: 7

Tibito Tephra was first recorded in the central highlands of Papua New Guinea (PNG) in 1971. By the late 1970s, the tephra had been mapped across tens of thousands of square kilometres, traced to its source on Long Island in the Bismarck Sea, and linked to pyroclastic density currents in the Matapun Beds on the island. With a tephra fall volume >10 km 3 , this eruption was clearly one of the 10 largest globally in the past 600 years. Although alm…

  • Dating the Last Major Eruption of Long Island, Papua New Guinea

Russell Blong, John Kemp et al.•ARTICLE•Terrae Incognitae•2016•Cited by: 1

William Dampier, one of England’s greatest navigators, named, described, and drew a profile of Long Island, Papua New Guinea in 1700. As this island produced a very large volcanic eruption with a disputed seventeenth- or eighteenth-century date, his observations assist in determining whether the eruption occurred before or after his visit. This contribution uses Dampier’s recorded observations to elucidate where the Roebuck was when the Long Isla…

  • The aetiology of community associated pneumonia in children in Nanjing, China and aetiological patterns associated with age and season

Open Access•Keping Chen, Runqing Jia et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2015

The results show there were 4 main viral and atypical bacterial pathogens causing CAP in our study. Some pathogens were found to be associated with age and season. M. pneumoniae was the most predominant pathogen among these 9 pathogens. It is necessary to take preventative measures in order to prevent the spread of these pathogens in susceptible age groups during peak season

  • The Australian Great Flood of 1954

Kévin Roche, Kevin M Roche et al.•ARTICLE•Weather, Climate, and Society•2013

As in many other parts of the globe, migration to the coast and rapid regional development in Australia is resulting in large concentrations of population and insured assets. One of the most rapidly growing regions is southeastern Queensland and northern New South Wales, an area prone to flooding. This study reexamines the Great Flood of 1954 and develops a deterministic methodology to estimate the likely cost if a similar event had occurred in 2…

  • Reply to the Nicholls (2010) comment on Crompton et al. (2010), “Influence of location, population, and climate on building damage and fatalities due to Australian bushfire

  • Influence of Location, Population, and Climate on Building Damage and Fatalities due to Australian Bushfire

Ryan P Crompton, K John McAneney et al.•ARTICLE•Weather, Climate, and Society•2010

This study reevaluates the history of building damage and loss of life due to bushfire (wildfire) in Australia since 1925 in light of the 2009 Black Saturday fires in Victoria in which 173 people lost their lives and 2298 homes were destroyed along with many other structures. Historical records are normalized to estimate building damage and fatalities had events occurred under the societal conditions of 2008/09. There are relationships between no…
