  • Association of environmental markers with childhood type 1 diabetes mellitus revealed by a long questionnaire on early life exposures and lifestyle in a case–control study

Open Access•Félix Balazard, Sophie Le Fur et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

  • Persistence of susceptibility to measles in France despite routine immunization

    Pierre Chauvin, A J Valleron•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1999•References: 4

OBJECTIVES: This study examined the impact of French routine programs urging the combined measles-mumps-rubella immunization of 15-month-old children. METHODS: We applied a cohort analysis to surveillance data collected by general practitioners to estimate the cumulative incidence rate per 1000 unvaccinated children and the proportion of susceptible children, by age and for each birth cohort between 1985 and 1995. RESULTS: More than 70% of unvacc…

  • A new out-patient care facility for HIV-infected destitute populations in Paris, France

    Pierre Chauvin, E Mortier et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•1997

In France, the entire population theoretically has access to health coverage, but in fact a section of the poorest population does not. Institutions have therefore been set up to provide medical care for the destitute. The objectives of this study were to describe the social characteristics of the HIV-positive destitute population attending an out-patient clinic providing free health care for the destitute in a Paris University Hospital, to compa…

  • Influenza mortality among the elderly in France, 1980-90

    Fabrice Carrat, Alain‐jacques Valleron et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•1995•Cited by: 2•References: 17

STUDY OBJECTIVES--This study aimed to assess total influenza mortality among the elderly (> or = 75 years old) in France, and to evaluate how many deaths may have been avoided through vaccination during the past 10 years. DESIGN--The monthly mortality rates related to different causes among the elderly were obtained from the national mortality statistics for the period 1978-90. For each cause, the proportion of the registered death rate attributa…

  • A new approach to estimating Aids incubation times

Sylvie Chevret, Dominique Costagliola et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•1992•References: 23

STUDY OBJECTIVE--The aim was to develop a new approach for estimating the incubation period of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), based on age distributions. DESIGN--Incubation period was expressed as the difference between age at time of diagnosis and age at time of contamination. Assuming independence between age at time of infection and incubation period, the age distribution of newly diagnosed AIDS cases is thus the convolution produc…

  • A routine tool for detection and assessment of epidemics of influenza-like syndromes in France

Dominique Costagliola, Antoine Flahault et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1991•Cited by: 2•References: 4

A regression model for the nonepidemic level of influenza-like syndrome has been estimated from the 55,200 cases collected between October 1984 and August 1988 using the French Communicable Diseases Computer Network. The start of a major epidemic in 1988-89 was detected early. The size of the epidemic, for the entire country, was estimated at approximately 4.3 million cases. The excess cost of sick-leave, among those of working age, was estimated…
