Reducing HIV Risks Among Active Injection Drug and Crack Users
The efficacy of Safety Counts, a CDC-diffused intervention, was reanalyzed. In a quasi experimental, cross-over design, injection drug users (IDU) and crack users in two neighborhoods were assigned by neighborhood to receive individual Voluntary HIV Counseling and Testing or Safety Counts and 78% were reassessed at 5-9 months. Reducing Risky Sexual Behavior and Substance Use Among Currently and Formerly Homeless Adults Living With HIV
Objectives. We examined the efficacy of the Healthy Living Program in reducing risky sexual behavior and substance use among adults with HIV infection who were marginally housed (i.e., homeless at some point over a 37-month period). Methods. We had previously conducted a randomized controlled trial with 936 adults living with HIV infection. In their comments regarding our article, Green et al. do not dispute our article's conclusion that a lack of Medicaid coverage for infant male circumcision discourages the use of this procedure. However, they differ sharply with us in their interpretation of whether this lack of coverage potentially impairs the health of poor infants.
