  • Application for Public Health Accreditation Among US Local Health Departments in 2013 to 2019: Impact of Service and Activity Mix

Jonathon P Leider, Jessica Kronstadt et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2021•References: 15

Objectives. To examine correlates of applying for accreditation among small local health departments (LHDs) in the United States through 2019. Methods. We used administrative data from the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) and 2013, 2016, and 2019 Profile data from the National Association of County and City Health Officials to examine correlates of applying for PHAB accreditation. We fit a latent class analysis (LCA) to characterize LHDs …

  • Graber Et Al. Respond

Judith M Graber, Brenda E Corkum et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2005•References: 4

My colleagues and I thank Rosenberg for his comments and interpretation regarding our work on the deterioration of American Indian mortality statistics in Maine. Rosenberg cites improvements made by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) in processing procedures for race-specific data. Undoubtedly these new procedures have improved the overall quality of race coding. However, these procedures involve the systematic review and editing of…

  • Underestimation of Cardiovascular Disease Mortality Among Maine American Indians: The Role of Procedural and Data Errors

    Judith M Graber, Judith Everts‐Graber et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2005•Cited by: 4•References: 8

We collaborated with Maine American Indian tribes to evaluate racial coding on death certificates and the effects of coding errors on estimation of cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. Lists of tribal decedents were matched to death certificates; 38.5% were misclassified (17.8% coding errors; 20.7% data entry errors). After errors were corrected, CVD mortality trends were similar between American Indians and all Maine residents. Racial misclas…
