Rapid Start of HIV Antiretroviral Therapy in New York State
Rapid start of antiretroviral therapy (ART) after an HIV diagnosis is a novel approach with demonstrated benefits for HIV care. However, utilization of this approach remains poor in the United States. Using retrospective reviews of HIV clinical care data from the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute's Quality of Care Program, we examined changes in rapid start of ART from 2019 to 2022 to assess the degree to which the rapid start mo…
Implementing data-to-care initiatives for HIV in New York state

In 2005, African Americans accounted for half of all HIV/AIDS cases, but only 12 percent of the US population was African American. Since the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the New York State Department of Health, AIDS Institute recognized the importance of faith communities' involvement in HIV prevention. A survey assessed faith community in…

Catania and Osmond correctly note that our data did not include population-based estimates of the size of the at-risk population. They highlight recent increases in risky behavior among men who have sex with men in other states to support the possibility that real impact could be masked by changes in the size of New York State's at-risk population. However, such changes occur relatively slowly compared with the implementation of a program like na…

In-person interviews were administered to 761 high-risk individuals to assess their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding HIV testing and reporting.
