  • Assessing vertical transmission of Sars-CoV-2 in high-rise apartments via a joint epidemiologic and modeling investigation

Open Access•Samuel Z Chong, Chin Chun Ooi et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

High-rise apartments (HRAs) present a complex environment with multiple routes of infection, especially for respiratory pathogens like SARS-CoV-2. With HRAs serving as the dominant housing modality in many dense urban regions worldwide, particularly in dense Asian cities such as Singapore, where high-rise living is normative, understanding transmission within such settings is essential for both global and region-specific public health preparednes…

  • Can we contain the Covid-19 outbreak with the same measures as for Sars?

    Open Access•Annelies Wilder‐Smith, Annelies Wilder-Smith et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet Infectious Diseases•2020

  • Outbreak of Measles in a Residential Home for the Intellectually Disabled in Singapore in 2019

    Valerie T J Koh, Calvin J Chiew et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2020•References: 2

A measles outbreak involving 19 adults in a home for the intellectually disabled occurred in Singapore in 2019. Further investigation, including a serological survey, was conducted. Mass vaccination and infection control measures were implemented, terminating further secondary transmission. Seropositivity among residents aged 40 to 49 years (90.7%; 95% confidence interval = 78.4%, 96.3%) was lower than among the Singapore adult population (P

  • Combining Heart Rate Variability with Disease Severity Score Variables for Mortality Risk Stratification in Septic Patients Presenting at the Emergency Department

Open Access•Jeremy Zhenwen Pong, Stephanie Fook‐Chong et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

The emergency department (ED) serves as the first point of hospital contact for many septic patients, where risk-stratification would be invaluable. We devised a combination model incorporating demographic, clinical, and heart rate variability (HRV) parameters, alongside individual variables of the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA), Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II), and Mortality in Emergency Department Sepsi…
