  • Salmonellosis

    E V Morse, Édith Madore et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1978•References: 5

Small spherical guest particles added to a nematic liquid-crystalline dispersion of colloidal rods self-assemble linearly into chain-like aggregates. We argue that the formation of these chains is induced by the excluded-volume coupling of the globules to the nematic matrix, and that pretransitional fluctuations in the mixture give rise to the structural reorganization of the linear aggregates observed in experiment. Ultimately, the repulsive int…

  • Canine salmonellosis

    E V Morse, Margo A Duncan et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1976

Dogs have been shown to harbor 53 salmonellae serotypes. Multiple simultaneous infections with 2 to 4 serotypes have been observed. The prevalence of canine salmonellosis may be a high as 27 per cent. Salmonella typhimurium and S. anatum are the most common etiologic agents. Dogs commonly experience a sub-clinical course of salmonellosis. Some investigators state that the dog may serve as a source of human infections. A few reports in the literat…
