  • Characterizing the Burden of Occupational Chemical Exposures by Sociodemographic Groups in the United States, 2021

    Shelley C Stephan-Recaido, Shelley C Stephan‐Recaido et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2024•References: 25

Objectives. To estimate the number and prevalence of workers in the United States exposed to chemical hazards available in the Canadian job-exposure matrix (CANJEM) database and examine exposure disparities across sociodemographic groups. Methods. We merged US worker demographic data from the Current Population Survey with CANJEM to characterize the burden and sociodemographic distribution of 244 chemical exposures in the United States in 2021. A…

  • Lung cancer risk among workers in the construction industry

Open Access•Aude Lacourt, Javier Pintos et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2015

Compared with other blue collar workers, there was only a slight increased risk of lung cancer for subjects who ever held an occupation in the construction industry. The analyses of agents within the construction industry produced imprecise estimates of risk, but nevertheless pointed to some plausible associations. Excess risks for asbestos and silica were in line with previous knowledge. The possible excess risks with the other inorganic dusts r…

  • Sunlight exposure during leisure activities and risk of prostate cancer in Montréal, Canada, 2005–2009

Open Access•Jennifer Yu, Jérôme Lavoué et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014

These findings provide little evidence of an association between sunlight exposure during leisure-time and PCa risk. Men with no sunlight exposure appeared at somewhat higher risks but none of the estimates achieved statistical significance

  • Interocc case–control study

Open Access•Aude Lacourt, Elisabeth Cardis et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2013

Thus, there was no evidence that these exposures influence risk of glioma
