Fostering positive mental health outcomes: Exploring the impact of internal cohesion psychotherapy on self-esteem, self-regulation, and motivation among youth with mood disorders
This study investigates the effectiveness of Internal Cohesion Psychotherapy (ICP) in enhancing three dimensions of the intrapersonal system: self-regulation, self-esteem, and motivation among youth with diagnosed mood disorders. Using a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data were collected through pre- and post-intervention assessments from 82 clients (63 females, 19 males). In contrast, qualitative data from semi-structured interviews with 2…
Maternal, paternal, and peer attachment and adolescent behavior problems: A validation study of the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (Ippa-45)
The findings suggest that the IPPA-45 is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing adolescents' attachments to their parents and peers. Thus, attachment relationships, including peer attachment, appear to be essential for protecting teenagers from behavior problems and should be targeted in intervention programs
Deviation from the balanced time perspective and depression and anxiety symptoms: The mediating roles of cognitive-behavioral emotion regulation in a cross-cultural model
The study highlights the crucial role of TPs and ER strategies in predicting anxiety and depression symptoms, with notable cultural nuances. Specifically, maladaptive strategies exacerbate symptoms, while adaptive strategies mitigate them primarily in Iranian contexts. Cultural subtleties are discussed in detail
Addressing Social Justice: A Positive Youth Development Approach
Covering an introductory chapter, a commentary and nine full chapters published as protocol, experimental, theoretical, or empirical studies, this publication depicts the voices, perceptions, experiences and developmental outcomes of adolescents and emerging adults from countries located in four continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. Individually and collectively, the different book chapters address how social justice and equity can…
Adverse Childhood Experience, Parental Bonding, and Fatherhood as Parenting Vulnerabilities to Social Anxiety Severity
Background: The present study aims to elucidate the association between adverse childhood experiences, parental bonding, fatherhood, and social anxiety symptoms among emerging adults within an Iranian context. Methods: This prospective cross-sectional study utilized self-reported assessments to evaluate fatherhood, parental bonding, anxious thoughts, and childhood trauma. The study was administered to 242 university students exhibiting social anx…
Perceived social support, perceived stress, and quality of sleep among Covid-19 patients in Iran: Assessing measurement invariance of the multidimensional scale of perceived social support across gend…
The MSPSS was valid and reliable for measuring individuals' perception of social support between males and females and older and non-older COVID-19 patients
An examination of the mediating role of maladaptive emotion regulation strategies in the complex relationship between interpersonal needs and suicidal behavior
Our findings show that contextual-interpersonal needs, which underpin suicidal behavior, are significantly influenced by maladaptive emotional processes. Thus, therapeutic outcomes might be enhanced by focusing on the content of the associated cognitions and trying to reduce maladaptive regulatory processes like rumination and catastrophization
The contribution of transdiagnostic vulnerability factors in patients with chronic insomnia
The findings support the role of transdiagnostic factors, especially physical concerns, repetitive negative thinking, and neuroticism in chronic insomnia. Future research using longitudinal designs is required to verify the causal status of transdiagnostic variables
The Explanation of Adolescent Delinquent Behaviors Based on Jessor's Problem Behavior Theory (PBT) in Iran: The Role of Individual Vulnerability, Opportunity Risk Availability, and Perceived Support
This study tested the generality of Problem Behavior Theory (PBT) in explaining adolescents' problem behavior in Iran. Data were collected from 392 adolescents (M age = 15.97, SD = 1.12, 55.4% girls) who completed the Adolescent Health and Development Questionnaire (AHDQ) to assess the individual vulnerability, opportunity risk availability, perceived support, and delinquent behaviors. Results indicated that individual vulnerability and opportuni…
An Empirical Test of a Diffusion Framework for School‐based Prevention: The 21 Swedish Junior High School Study
This is a 3‐year, quasi‐experimental trial of an intervention diffusion framework. There were 11 intervention and 10 control junior high schools located in either a large Swedish city or the Swedish countryside. Multilevel structural equation modeling was used to evaluate a 2‐level model (1,337 students nested in 85 classrooms) for each outcome domain: internalizing and externalizing problems, substance use, socioemotional competence, and percept…
