  • Effects of task types and time interval conditions on age‐related decline in verbal working memory

Open Access•Eunha Jo, Sujin Choi et al.•ARTICLE•Scandinavian Journal of Psychology•2023

Age‐related differences in working memory (WM) components were investigated by manipulating the time interval and interference effects between phonological and semantic judgment tasks to identify tasks to best discriminate between younger and older groups. The 96 participants (young = 48; old = 48) prospectively performed two task types of WM, with phonological and semantic judgment tasks, which were administered while varying the three interval …

  • Age-related Decline in Case-Marker Processing and its Relation to Working Memory Capacity

Jee Eun Sung•ARTICLE•The Journals of Gerontology…•2016

The canonicity of word order and passive construction were critical factors related to decline in abilities in a case-marker assignment. The combination of age, education, and sentence type factors accounted for overall performance on case-marker processing. Results indicated the crucial necessity to find a cognitively and linguistically demanding condition that elicits aging effects most efficiently, considering language-specific syntactic featu…

  • The Effects of Verb Argument Complexity on Verb Production in Persons with Aphasia

    Open Access•Jee Eun Sung•ARTICLE•Journal of Psycholinguistic…•2016•References: 31

  • Working Memory and Its Relation to Auditory Comprehension in Native and Nonnative Speakers

Jee Eun Sung, Malcolm R McNeil et al.•ARTICLE•Asia Pacific Journal of Speech…•2010

There is a relatively robust and continually growing literature addressing the hypothesis that working memory (WM) competencies play an important role in language comprehension. This hypothesis has been investigated as the source for the language comprehension deficits that are a hallmark of aphasia. Additionally, it has been hypothesized that individuals with limited WM facility are negatively affected in second language acquisition and language…
