Growing up in Victoria, Australia, in the midst of the climate emergency
Children and young people (henceforth referred to as young people) are one of the groups most affected by climate change and are at the forefront of climate action. Yet, there is scarce evidence on how young people navigate the challenges presented by climate change using their personal strengths and the resources accessible to them. This study aimed to address this gap by drawing on qualitative data from workshops with 31 young people between 12…
Crafting Subverses: A Narrative Analysis of the Experience of Losing a Parent through Intimate Partner Homicide
Purpose Losing a parent due to intimate partner homicide is a traumatic experience, exacerbated by homicide and the associated grief being a taboo in many western cultures. Methods Within the context of a larger…

Inclusion of Cultural and Linguistic Diversity in Covid-19 Public Health Research: Research Design Adaptations to Seek Different Perspectives in Victoria, Australia
Participation of people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in public health research is often limited by challenges with recruitment, retention and second-language data collection. Consequently, people from CALD communities are at risk of their needs being marginalised in public health interventions. This paper presents intrinsic case analyses of two studies which were adapted to increase the cultural competence of rese…
Think Big: A multinational collaboration to promote children's role as coresearchers in participatory research
The field of participatory research with children developed largely thanks to shared learning between different cultures, places, and disciplines. However, grand narratives and power relationships in academia inherited from colonialism and imperialism can threaten to obstruct the transformative value of this approach. In this article, we present the case of Think Big, a multinational collaboration for participatory research with children that inv…
