  • Budget deficit and current account deficit in case of South Africa

Open Access•Umer Jeelanie Banday, Ranjan Aneja•ARTICLE•Journal of Public Affairs•2021•References: 1

This article investigates the relationship between budget deficit and current account deficit using ARDL bound testing approach for the developing country South Africa over the period of 1990–2018 featured with liquidity constraints and decreasing consumption. The results of the study confirm the long‐run and short‐run cointegrating relationship between the two deficits and accept Keynesian preposition and do not find any evidence in favor of Ric…

  • Ricardian Equivalence

Umer Jeelanie Banday, Ranjan Aneja•ARTICLE•Asian Affairs An American Review•2019

This article provides an empirical approach to analyze the validity of the Ricardian equivalence (RE) theorem for China using time series data over the period 1990 to 2016. The results reveal that private consumption (c) has a long run relationship with tax (T), budget deficit (d), real interest rate (r), and government spending (G2). The empirical results exhibit that the coefficients of T, r, and d are negative and statistically significant whi…
