Examining the impact of virtual reality on middle school students’ biology learning outcomes and experiences
Virtual reality (VR) is increasingly posited to transform biology education by visualising complex, microscopic, and abstract structures. However, prior research has yielded inconsistent findings regarding the comparative efficacy of different visualisation modalities, particularly when integrating cognitive, affective, and technological acceptance variables. This study conducted a six-week quasi-experimental investigation at a middle school, exa…
ESG inequality in China’s three major urban agglomerations and its driving factors
Despite the growing body of research on ESG performance, limited attention has been paid to intra-regional disparities within urban agglomerations and the spatial mechanisms driving such inequalities. This study investigates the spatial and temporal patterns of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance inequality across China’s three major urban agglomerations—Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH), Yangtze River Delta (YRD), and Pearl River D…

Vitamin D nutritional status and the influencing factors among children and adolescents
Objective To assess the nutritional status of vitamin D and to analyze the influencing factors of vitamin D deficiency among children and adolescents. Methods Data from 1,827 children and adolescents aged 6–17 years from the nutrition and health surveillance of Zhejiang province, China, were analyzed. The serum concentration of 25-(OH)D were measured using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry. The prevalence of vitamin …
Factors influencing type 2 diabetes in adults
Objectives The aim of this study was to explore the factors influencing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) among adults in Zhejiang Province. Methods A stratified cluster sampling technique was employed, and adults without known diabetes were included in the analysis. Food consumption was assessed using three consecutive days of 24-h dietary recall. Blood samples were collected to measure fasting blood glucose (FBG), blood lipids [total cholesterol …
The interactive roles between coping tendency and focus on Covid-19 information time in Adolescent Obesity
Increased daily time spent with COVID-19 information was associated with a higher incidence of adolescent obesity. Positive coping styles have been observed to reduce the incidence of obesity in adolescents. Positive coping tendency and less time focus on COVID-19 information can mutually reinforce the reduction in adolescent obesity. In developing interventions for adolescent obesity during periods of chronic crisis, authorities must focus on en…
Analysis of factors influencing terrace abandonment based on unmanned aerial photography and farmer surveys
Studying the abandonment status of mountain terraces and its determinants, as well as exploring opportunities for the sustainable use of mountain terraces, are of great significance for the protection of regional cultivated land resources. The present study analysed eight typical villages in Jianhe County, Guizhou Province, China, as examples. A combination of high‐resolution remote sensing images and farm household survey data were used to explo…
Does environmental regulation improve energy transition performance in China
Cyberbullying and Traditional Bullying Victimization, Depressive Symptoms, and Suicidal Ideation Among Chinese Early Adolescents
This study examined how depressive symptoms play mediating roles between cyberbullying and traditional bullying victimization and suicidal ideation and the moderating roles of cognitive reappraisal and emotion invalidation. A total of 1,823 Chinese adolescents (Mean age = 11.20, SD = 1.21, 47.8% girls) participated this study. Results showed that cyberbullying victimization was more strongly related to suicidal ideation than traditional bullying …
On the Philosophy of Life in the Late Poetry of Mu dan Creation
As an important proposition, Mu Dan’s poetry in the later stage has been paid more and more attention, and the understanding of Mu Dan’s later poetry content has also been explained in many ways, which also has a lot of open research horizons for today’s readers. Through the study of Mu Dan’s poetry in the later stage, the author will also have a deeper understanding of Mu Dan’s poetry, at the same time, he will also accumulate the previous resea…
The Prevalence of Scoliosis Screening Positive and Its Influencing Factors
Objective Early detection of scoliosis is of great significance to patients with scoliosis and the whole society. This paper aims to learn the prevalence of scoliosis screening positive among students in primary and secondary schools and to explore the influencing factors. Methods In 2019, a stratified cluster sampling technique was employed in this school-based cross-sectional study. The sampling covers all prefecture-level cities in Zhejiang Pr…
Urban Form and Function Optimization for Reducing Carbon Emissions Based on Crowd-Sourced Spatio-Temporal Data
The low-carbon city has become an important global urban development-oriented goal. One important aspect of urban space is low-carbon urban planning, which has a vital role in urban carbon emissions. Which types of urban form and function allocations are conducive to reducing carbon emissions is therefore a key issue. In this study, the Futian and Luohu Districts of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, are taken as an example to investigate this …
Psychological Impact and Compliance with Staying at Home of the Public to Covid-19 Outbreak during Chinese Spring Festival
In December 2019, COVID-19 was reported in Wuhan, China. Most of the studies related to the psychological impact and compliance with staying at home due to COVID-19 focused on ten days or one month after the initial "stay-at-home" phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. The early psychological impact and behavior change to COVID-19 during the Chinese Spring Festival (the start time for recommendations to stay at home) is uncertain. In this study, people …
The Comparison of the Effects between Continuous and Intermittent Energy Restriction in Short-Term Bodyweight Loss for Sedentary Population
Both CER and IER are effective and safe energy restriction strategies in the short term. Daily energy intake and physical exercise are important to both IER and CER
Simulation and Analysis of Urban Production–Living–Ecological Space Evolution Based on a Macro–Micro Joint Decision Model
The precise simulation of urban space evolution and grasping of the leading factors are the most important basis for urban space planning. However, the simulation ability of current models is lacking when it comes to complicated/unpredictable urban space changes, resulting in flawed government decision-making and wasting of urban resources. In this study, a macro-micro joint decision model was proposed to improve the ability of urban space evolut…

Student attitudes that predict participation in peer assessment
Peer assessment has been widely applied to actively engage students in learning to write. However, sometimes students resist peer assessment. This study explores reviewers’ attitudes and other underlying factors that influence students’ participation in online peer assessment. Participants were 234 Chinese undergraduates from two different academic backgrounds: engineering majors (n = 168) and English majors (n = 66). Gender, academic background …
Dietary Patterns and Obesity among Chinese Adults
The key dietary pattern other than dietary factors influencing obesity has been reported by several large epidemiological studies. This study was carried out between 2010 and 2012 including 1613 adult residents in Zhejiang Province. Dietary patterns were extracted by factor analysis based on 24-h dietary recall. Associations with dietary patterns and obesity were examined and adjusted for age and gender by logistic regression. Five dietary patter…
The Rural-Urban Difference in BMI and Anemia among Children and Adolescents
There is growing concern over the double burden of over- and under-nutrition in individuals, especially in children and adolescents, which could dwarf their growth and development. This study aims to explore the rural-urban difference in BMI and anemia among children and adolescents. A stratified cluster sampling technique was employed. Dietary data were collected through interviews, and anthropometric values were measured. There were 1534 childr…
Iodine nutritional status after the implementation of the new iodized salt concentration standard in Zhejiang Province, China
At the time the new local iodization policy put forward, iodine nutrition was generally adequate in both urban and rural areas, suggesting that the new policy for adjusting the standard salt iodine concentration is effective. Our data also indicate that the reason people living in urban areas had a lower urinary iodine concentration than people in rural areas may be due to their preference for using non-iodized salt in the last 2 or 3 years. Main…
