  • Monitoring land sensitivity to desertification using the Esai approach and evaluation of the key indicators

Open Access•Joy Rajbanshi, Sharmistha Das•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2021

Desertification is one of the primary environmental problems that negatively affect agricultural production leading to poverty, hunger, and economic instability in a country like India. A holistic study is therefore extremely valuable rather than localized ones for addressing this issue and its' further consequences. In this study, the environmentally sensitive area index (ESAI) has been used to identify the areas vulnerable to desertification fr…

  • Changes in carbon stocks and its economic valuation under a changing land use pattern—A multitemporal study in Konar catchment, India

Open Access•Joy Rajbanshi, Sharmistha Das•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2021

Land use and land cover (LULC) changes influence the global terrestrial carbon pools and carbon sequestration processes to great extents. Therefore, the understanding of the soil carbon dynamics under the dire pressure of LULC changes is highly necessary. The subhumid tropical catchment of Konar, India, has endured immense LULC transitions over the years and this is likely to promote altered carbon exchanges with atmosphere and, thus, has a signi…

  • Association of Covid-19 With Achieving Time-to-Surgery Benchmarks in Patients With Musculoskeletal Trauma

Open Access•Ida Leah Gitajn, Paul M Werth et al.•ARTICLE•JAMA Health Forum•2021

In this cohort study, there was no association between meeting time-to-surgery benchmarks in either open fracture or closed femur/hip fracture during the COVID-19 pandemic compared with before the pandemic. This is counter to concerns that the unprecedented challenges associated with managing the COVID-19 pandemic would be associated with clinically significant delays in acute management of urgent surgical cases and suggests that many hospital sy…

  • Evidence‐based practice and teacher action‐research

    Open Access•Laura Colucci‐gray, Sharmistha Das et al.•ARTICLE•British Educational Research…•2013•Cited by: 2•References: 39

This study was conceived as an opportunity to reflect on the place of action‐research in the contested landscape of educational change in the UK where increasing emphasis has been put on the use of evidence to drive reform. In the context of a government‐sponsored project in Scotland, this study looked at the impact of a scholarship initiative supporting classroom teachers to undertake action‐research projects on a topic of their own choice with …
