Correlating plasma protein profiles with symptomatology and treatment response in acute phase and early remission of major depressive disorder
The study's limited sample size and its naturalistic design, encompassing diverse treatment modalities, present methodological constraints. Furthermore, the analysis focused on peripheral blood proteins, with potential implications for interpretability
Osteocalcin levels decrease during the treatment of an acute depressive episode
This preliminary study suggests that osteocalcin may be a candidate biomarker of antidepressive treatment response and that this topic warrants further investigation
Dietary patterns and birth outcomes in the ELSPAC pregnancy cohort
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to identify dietary patterns in a Czech pregnancy cohort established in the early postcommunist era and investigate associations between dietary patterns, maternal characteristics and birth outcomes. METHODS: Pregnant women were recruited for the Czech part of the European Longitudinal Study of Pregnancy and Childhood. A self-reported questionnaire answered in late pregnancy was used to assess information abo…
Dietary pattern longitudinality during 8 years in children
Objective: Dietary pattern analysis constitutes a suitable method for identifying complex food preferences as well as a useful tool for comparing dietary behaviour across individual populations. In addition to a lack of information on Central European dietary patterns, dietary data featuring a longitudinal aspect are likewise largely unavailable for the region. Our study thus strives to address this gap by analysing children’s dietary patterns, t…
Assessing Stress in Pregnancy and Postpartum
SLE-based methods capture an aspect of perinatal stress not adequately assessed by EPDS. Combination of psychological distress measures and SLE-based measures is optimal in predicting EBD of the child. Stress measures based on SLE are suitable for early pregnancy, while self-reports of depressive symptoms may perform better in postpartum
Sleeping habits of adolescents in relation to their physical activity and exercise output
BACKGROUND: Little is known about the effects of physical activity and fitness on sleep timing parameters in adolescence. METHODS: We investigated the development of sleep timing between age 8 and 15 and its association with physical fitness at age 15 in 787 adolescents (408 males, 379 females). Physical fitness was measured using the physical work capacity (PWC) protocol. Information on sport activity was collected at ages 11 and 15. Finally, th…
