  • Chain-mediated effects of servant leadership on the physical health of Chinese elementary school teachers

Open Access•Hongchao Wu, Ruiqi Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Introduction: The role of servant leadership in the processes of fostering a healthy work environment and enhancing employee well-being has become an important area of academic inquiry, particularly with respect to the highly stressful and emotional demanding profession of teaching. However, the underlying mechanisms of the relationships to teacher's physical health remain insufficiently understood. Thus, in light of the direct effect hypothesis …

Open Access•Hongchao Wu, Yisi Peng et al.•ARTICLE•Current Psychology•2025

  • Socioeconomic status and motor coordination function among children with autism

Open Access•Muqing Cao, Tingfeng Gu et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2025

Low income of a family is associated with a higher risk of probable DCD among autism children. The linkage between higher education of the mother and probable DCD could be attributed to more grandparenting among these families. This is the first research exploring the association between socio-demographic factors and the motor coordination function of autism. It comes from a set of low/middle-income countries with limited sources of autism in the…

  • Incidence of erectile dysfunction among middle-aged and aging sexual minority men living with or without HIV

Open Access•Aishat Mustapha, Brittanny M Polanka et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Introduction: Erectile dysfunction (ED) has been established as a comorbidity among men living with HIV, but comparisons by HIV serostatus of ED incidence in a longitudinal follow-up cohort of men are lacking. We sought to evaluate the incidence of ED spanning a period of 12 years in a longitudinal cohort of sexual minority men (SMM) living with and without HIV. Methods: We analyzed ED incidence data for 625 participants in the longitudinal Multi…

  • Simulation of wetland carbon storage in coastal cities under the coupled framework of socio-economic and ecological sustainability

Open Access•Yitong Yin, Rongjin Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2024

Wetlands are an important part of the global carbon cycle, and wetland protection is an important way to achieve carbon neutrality and synergistic benefits between humans and ecosystems in China. However, most of the previous studies lack the influencing factors and driving paths of wetland carbon storage (WCS) from the perspective of coupled systems. Based on the SD-PLUS-InVEST coupling model and the socio-economic and ecological sustainability …

  • The relationship between executive function and the association of motor coordination difficulties and social communication deficits in autistic children

Open Access•Tingfeng Gu, Chengkai Jin et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2024

EF partially mediates the motor coordination and social communication correlation among autistic children. We suggest that motor coordination should be included in the routine evaluation of autistic surveillance and rehabilitation procedures

  • Association between maternal parenting styles and behavioral problems in children with ASD

Open Access•Xiujin Lin, Xi Su et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

Background Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are at high risk of experiencing externalizing and internalizing problems. This study aimed to reveal how maternal parenting styles and autistic traits influence behavioral problems in children with ASD. Methods This study recruited 70 2–5 years children with ASD and 98 typically developing (TD) children. The Parental Behavior Inventory (PBI) and Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ) were used to co…

  • Association between Mothers’ Emotional Problems and Autistic Children’s Behavioral Problems

    Open Access•Xiujin Lin, Li‐Zi Lin et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

Mothers' emotional problems are associated with autistic children's behavioral problems. We aim to test whether parenting styles moderate associations between mothers' mood symptoms and autistic children's behavioral problems. A sample of 80 mother-autistic child dyads were enrolled at three rehabilitation facilities in Guangzhou, China. The Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ) and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) were used …

  • Empathy, Theory of Mind, and Prosocial Behaviors in Autistic Children

Open Access•Xin Wang, Bonnie Auyeung et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Autistic children showed less pro-sociality and ToM ability than TD children. In autistic children, empathic trait was associated with parent-reported prosocial behaviors while their ToM ability was associated with prosocial behaviors in experimental condition. Our findings indicated that better ToM ability and empathic trait might promote prosocial behaviors in autistic children

  • The Correlation between Chinese Written Vocabulary Size and Cognitive, Emotional and Behavioral Factors in Primary School Students

Open Access•Ning Pan, Yangfeng Guo et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Written vocabulary size plays a key role in children's reading development. We aim to study the relationship between Chinese written vocabulary size and cognitive, emotional, and behavioral factors in primary school students. Using stratified cluster sampling, 1162 pupils from Grade 2~5 in Guangzhou were investigated. Chinese written vocabulary size, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral factors were assessed by the Chinese written vocabulary size…

  • Characterization of Intelligence in Children with Exotropia

Open Access•Tao Sun, Тао Сун et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

The effect of exotropia on the intelligence of children is unknown. This study aimed to assess the intelligence in children with exotropia and investigate the influence of the main clinical indexes of strabismus on intelligence. Eighty-four participants aged 8-12 years were enrolled, including 37 patients with exotropia (exotropia group) and 47 normal individuals (normal group). Intelligence was assessed by the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Chi…

  • Gender-dependent association between sleep duration and overweight incidence in CHINESE school children

Open Access•Muqing Cao, Yanna Zhu et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2018

The association between short sleep duration and overweight is age- and gender dependent. In group of small age and elder age, girls' adiposity states are independently associated with sleep duration. Sleep recommendation is a potential preventive action for overweight/obesity among girls

  • Specific Sex Drug Combinations Contribute to the Majority of Recent HIV Seroconversions Among MSM in the Macs

David G Ostrow, Michael W Plankey et al.•ARTICLE•JAIDS Journal of Acquired Immune…•2009

BACKGROUND: New HIV infections are being observed among men who have sex with men (MSM). Understanding the fusion of risky sexual behaviors, stimulant and erectile dysfunction drug use with HIV seroconversion may provide direction for focused intervention. METHODS: During the follow-up period (1998-2008), we identified 57 HIV seroconverters among 1667 initially HIV-seronegative men. Time to seroconversion was modeled using Cox proportional hazard…

  • The Relationship Between Methamphetamine and Popper Use and Risk of HIV Seroconversion in the Multicenter Aids Cohort Study

Michael W Plankey, Michael Plankey et al.•ARTICLE•JAIDS Journal of Acquired Immune…•2007

BACKGROUND: The association between methamphetamine use and HIV seroconversion for men who have sex with men (MSM) was examined using longitudinal data from the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study. METHODS: Seronegative (n = 4003) men enrolled in 1984 to 1985, 1987 to 1991, and 2001 to 2003 were identified. Recent methamphetamine and popper use was determined at the current or previous visit. Time to HIV seroconversion was the outcome of interest. Cova…
