  • Country-level innovation performance

Open Access•Yong Aaron Tan, Yu Zhao•ARTICLE•Scientometrics•2026

This study advances the innovation literature by introducing and quantifying sustainable innovation efficiency at the country level. While prior research has primarily focused on innovation efficiency alone, we propose a novel framework that integrates both innovation efficiency and sustainable innovation efficiency to provide a more comprehensive measure of overall innovation performance. Using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) on a sample of 30 c…

  • Does inward FDI improve the labour‐allocation efficiency of local firms? Evidence from China

Open Access•Shi Qing, Qing Shi et al.•ARTICLE•World Economy•2024

This article estimates labour‐allocation efficiency at the firm level in China and studies whether inward foreign direct investment (FDI) has contributed to its improvement. We construct a city‐level FDI intensity measure and identify the causal effect of FDI entry on labour‐allocation efficiency. The results indicate that when FDI increases by 10%, the average labour‐allocation efficiency increases by 7.2%. The mechanism analysis further implies…

  • Examining divorce risk through gender roles in Pakistan

Open Access•Sumera Arshad, Muhammad Zahid Naeem et al.•ARTICLE•Women s Studies International Forum•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 8

This research investigates the risk of divorce in Pakistan, considering various aspects of gender roles. We used rare events logistic regression to determine the risk of divorce based on socioeconomic variables. We find that females are more likely to be divorced than their male counterparts in all estimation scenarios. While our analysis partially supports the gender role specialization theory, both males and females who do not participate in th…

  • Evaluating inter-sectorial efficiency of state-owned bank financing

Ricardo Kalil Moraes, Peter Fernades Wanke et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Public…•2023

This paper examines the efficiency of the Brazilian productive structure due to public funding provided by its state-owned bank. We develop a hierarchical dynamic game between this bank and the firms yielding investment as a function of the subsidised credit, industry competition, and openness. Through a multi-sector two-stage data envelopment analysis model, we find that the funding's main recipients were not effective in jointly producing aggre…

  • Tea-Is

    Open Access•Jorge Antunes, Abdollah Hadi-Vencheh et al.•ARTICLE•Decision Support Systems•2023

This paper presents an assessment of the Chinese healthcare system in 31 provinces for a 10-year period in light of relevant physical and human resource variables. First, a novel TEA-IS (Trigonometric Envelopment Analysis for Ideal Solutions) model is developed to assess healthcare efficiency at the province level. Machine learning methods are also employed to predict high-low performance and the synergistic Chinese healthcare province in terms o…

  • A new perspective on the U.S. energy efficiency

Open Access•Jorge Antunes, Jorge Junio Moreira Antunes et al.•ARTICLE•Technological Forecasting and…•2023

This paper offers a new perspective on the energy efficiency literature by bringing evidence of political contextual factors as the predictors of energy efficiency. Specifically, we posit that the Democrat administration is more energy-efficient considering the reduction of environmental impact, in contrast, the Republican administration is more efficient considering only financial expenditures leading to the production of economic growth. In add…
