‘East Asia’ as a ‘Region’
본 연구는 ‘동아시아 지역’이 한반도를 중심으로 한 동북아시아 지역을 넘어 동남아시아 지역으로 확장될 필요를 제기하면서, ‘동아시아 지역’의 수평적 외연·내포와 역내외의 상호 관계(정치적, 경제적, 사회문화적 등)를 통해 재구성되는 동아시아의 함의와 과제를 보다 적극적으로 검토해 볼 필요를 제기한다. 메가아시아적 접근방식은 기존 동아시아담론과 동아시아공동체론의 비판과 대안으로 제시되기보다는, ‘동아시아’란 질문을 아시아와 세계 차원으로 확장할 필요와 가능성을 제기한다. 아세안적 방식으로 지역형성을 해 온 동남아시아 국가들의 경험을 플랫폼으로 활용하여 등장한 ASEAN+N 전략을 통해 한국을 포함한 역내 국가들이 자기구성하는 ‘동아시아 지역’과, 다른 지역과의 상호작동을 통한 ‘지역’의 활용에 대한 연구를 본격적으로 시작할 필요를 제시한다. 그 과정에서, 사회적으로 구성되는 ‘동아시아 지역’에 대…
