  • Transformative Sea-level Rise Research and Planning

Laurie Richmond, Jeff Anderson et al.•ARTICLE•Humboldt Journal of Social…•2023

Sea-level rise (SLR) is and will continue to be a pressing issue in the rural, North Coast region of California, especially since nearby Wigi (or Humboldt Bay) is experiencing one of the fastest rates of relative SLR on the U.S. West Coast. In this paper, we argue that SLR presents a transformative opportunity to rekindle environmental relationships and reshape the future of the California North Coast and beyond. As the preeminent higher educatio…

  • Lead concentrations in inner-city soils as a factor in the child lead problem

    Howard W Mielke, J C Anderson et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1983•Cited by: 10•References: 13

Soil samples were randomly collected from 422 vegetable gardens in a study area centered in downtown Baltimore, Maryland, and having a radius of 48.28 km (30 miles). The levels of lead, four other metals (cadmium, copper, nickel, and zinc), and pH were measured for each location. The application of multi-response permutation procedures, which are compatible with mapping techniques, reveals that lead (as well as cadmium, copper, nickel, and zinc) …
